Subject: Obit Messenger results for 08/17/08

MARTENS, Warren Edward Davis, 92, longtime resident of Walnut Creek passed away August 5, 2008. Warren was born in McKeesport, PA, May 9, 1916. He was a graduate of Ohio Northern University School of Pharmacy and the Naval Academy at Annapolis. He served as an officer on board the submarine the USS Tunney in WWII. After the war he was employed by the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company for 27 years. Warren was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Rossmoor, the VFW, and American Vets. He was a proud 50 year member of the United States Power Squadron and a founding member of the Diablo Chapter. His first love was always his boat and he spent many happy hours on the delta with his family and friends. Warren and Phyllis loved to travel and saw much of the world together. Preceded in death by his wife Aileen Martens, daughter Judith Martens and wife Phyllis Martens. He is survived by his daughter Aned Halverson, son in law Gerald Szostak, step daughter Lori Walker, step sons Bruce and Rick Paltenghi and five step grandchildren. Friends are invited to a memorial service on Friday, August 29th at 1:30PM in the chapel at the Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church 29 Knox Drive Lafayette. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kiwanis Club.


McMaster, Richard L., died August 10, 2008. A US Naval Veteran who served on a submarine, received his electrical engineering degree from RPI, received his masters degree for system engineering at Stanford University, member of the Holland Club Submarine Services. Has been an Oak Hill Country Club member for over 25 years. Survived by wife of 40 years, Patricia; sons, Eric (Susan Avery) and Mark (Catherine); grandson, Ryan; sister, Cheryl (Michael) Kieffer; aunt, Ora Mae Pike; nephew; 2 nieces, many cousins and dear friends. Calling hours, Tuesday August 19th 4-7 at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home, Village Location, 41 S. Main St., Fairport. Funeral Service Wednesday, August 20, 11 AM at Asbury United Methodist Church of Christ, East Avenue, Rochester. Interment, White Haven. In lieu of flowers, please consider Visiting Nurse Service Hospice or Webster Comfort Care Home.
