At random: Probably the most expensive ballast ever carried by a ship was two tons of gold and eighteen tons of silver coins carried by the U.S. submarine TROUT while on a trip from Corregidor to Pearl Harbor early in World War II. TROUT had removed her moveable ballast to allow for a larger cargo of ammunition to be transported for the defenders on the embattled island. Lcdr. Fenno, TROUT's CO, planned on replacing the ballast with sand bags, but found none were available. The gold and silver from the Bank of the Philippines was substituted as ballast, which also solved the problem of removing the treasure to a safe place prior to invasion by the enemy.

Hey John,

We may have to send up smoke signals to the Ramjet, too...with him being up in "dem dar woods"!!! I can't even imagine Miss Cora spewing venom...just a kindly hint...by way of the barb wire that now surrounds her compound...and the guard dogs strategically placed...watch out for those chompers, Dex...the teeth seem to be glistening in the morning sun!

No, Dear Ralph...the chompers of those strategically placed puppy dogs....and it looks like one of them might even be sporting a pair of them "bionic type" ala Jaws from the Bond movies...ooooo, that's gonna leave a mark!

Not too long ago, I stated that I still have all my original teeth. Well...not all of them, but the 26 or so that I still have, are home-grown!

Sheesh.
