Folks, we're all familier with breaking the sound barrier, bra burners breaking the glass ceiling, Guiness records....hot air balloon records...Olympic records...World Records and land speed records on the Utah salt flats....Ralph Luther is now within a chip shot of his 1000th post. Don will be sending him the keys to his new Rolls Royce Silver Phantom...his new yacht ownership papers....round-the-world cruise tickets....and the key to Candice Bergen's hotel suite. Congratulations.....DEX

GREAT SCOTT, Dex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm getting so excited I can hardly stand it. You mean to tell me that I've rubber lipped more than you have? How is this possible? I thought you had a lock on the bbs.
You better get your arse in gear and catch back up.

Welcome back Stateside, Jim. I hope your Son had a great visit in S.A.
No one--I mean NO ONE can out do Dex when it comes to rubber lipping. The only reason he is below the 1k mark is because he took some time off.
Reaching the 1k mark and a couple of $$ will still get you a beer on School Street. Might even get you a hug from Patti, Cora, Laura and Nancy. Oh, hell!!!! I shouldn't have said that. Watch Dex burn up the wire now. He'll be pounding his----keyboard to catch me before I get to the 1k.
Race is on Dex!!! I'll stay off the key the rest of the day so you can close the gap.

There's no race...Ralph's posts collectively constitute a body of valuable information and worthwhile intellectual exchange....Mine on the other hand represent a massive compost pile of idiotic nonsense. I couldn't help wondering what comes after"Great Sage of the Sea"...could it be "Master Manure Spreader of the Oceanic Universe", "Dean of Cyber BS" or "Master of the Golden GDU"? I make it a rule not to look at things in terms of who's first or engage in any competition that doesn't result in dragging a female back to my cave like Wilbur the Caveman. No, I just noticed that Ralph was rapidly reaching a new milestone in the universe...kinda like Columbus nearing the edge o0f the earth where your ship falls off and ends up....somewhere. I'm still trying to figure out where Cora keeps that high powered handgun.....Ray the Blind Man's last words were,"Look under her pillow." A tenth of a second later a large po9rtion of the contents of his head were passing over Minneapolis. And, there's always that 27 foot croc under her bed. A thousand posts...Man Ralph if those things were Raliegh cigarette coupons, you could get the Samsonite folding card table, the Shakiepeare casting reel or the B.F. Goodrich two quart combination household syringe. 1000 posts...according to the National Bureau of Standards mean average statistics table, that represents 26 million words....18 billion letters...and 14 tons of bovine excrement. The landfill two miles from Gentry's house runneth over with cyber refuse. Congratulations Kemosabi. DEX

1000 posts? Don't surprise me. Ralph is older than the dirt on Mt. Sinai where Moses dug up his stone tablets. He got his first 'puter from Fred Flintstone. He was turned out his first BBS posts on the Sennet's TDC. He taught Martini how to keyboard, Dex how to spin a yarn and Rickover how to split atoms and bottle 'em up in the tail end of a submarine.

Awwww man! How can I keep/run silent with Dex trying to blow smoke up our arses? And then that sandbaging Steamboat. What did I do to get all this attention? Must be spin offs from all the attention my "good buddy" Crystal is sending my way.

Dog-gone Robert you might be on to something. Since Dex brought it to my attention as to the message count, I've seen that the numbers just don't tally as you would think.
That rascal, Gentry, might be trying to juggle the numbers.

That would be fun for a while. But Jim, if some of these old worn out Retired West Coast Chief's can take the pressure from me, how could the entire country take it? There would be lower lips dragging everywhere.
HEY!!!!! Look at that number!!!!!! I have busted thru the barrier. Now it's time to get all those hugs from Patti, Cora, Laura and Nancy. Eat your heart out, Dex.

In "talking" with Jim M today, I was telling him I'm getting that itch to hit the road for a trip somewhere. To bad Blue isn't headed this way soon. I could haul his arse around on another grand tour. Who knows, maybe POD or Ian will head this way.
Then again I may just hit out on my own with a sleeping bag, tent and my Black lab Jessie. First off I've got to finish putting down tile in the master bath and 2nd bath then put down some hardwood flooring. That will earn my Liberty Card or Leave Papers.

There's always the bee-yu-ti-ful Black Hills. It's hot here now, but one of our prettiest seasons is coming up.

You can sight-see or there's always gambling in Deadwood. We could go up on Mt. Moriah and visit Wild Bill and Calamity Jane. She always claimed to be his lover, but historians question that. She was kind of an ugly (what's the name for a woman who looks more like a man?) androgynous? old gal. I just looked up the word , and it says, "stamens and pistils in the same flower."

There's the Bad Lands east of us; Crazy Horse Monument; Rushmore (of course), but most of all, there's me. Three hundred miles west of us is Custer Battlefield (not a political correct name anymore). I think our American Indian neighbors want to call it The Battle Of The Little Big Horn, or some such name. By the way, I never say "Native Americans." If the American Indians are the only native Americans, what does that make you and me?

Bring Sharon. You've probably told her so many misleading stories about our winter weather that she thinks it's bad year around. Mostly, we do have open winters, with a very occasional blizzard. Never snowed in more than a couple days. She will be pleasantly surprised.

We look at it this way: We're far enough inland that if Russian and China get trigger-happy, we know they'll hit both coasts first. No humidity. Did I mention me?

See ya!

Uh, oh. What do we have brewing here now? Is Ralph trying to musle in on Dex's sweethart of the Planes? Could be trouble up there. I'd hate to see them have to have a shoot-out at high noon in the streets of Rapid City over Corabelle. I know Dex's 44 aint been fired in 150 years, so Ralph is probably safe, but i don't know what Ralph is packing! (I will have to teach Sharon how to slip some instant cream of wheat into his revolver, like what we use in Civil War reenacting.) Carefull though, Cora, these old pharts are rabid.

Oh, hell, I can see that Dex will be gunning for me again. Steamboat, you ought not put thoughts into that old coot's mind. He does right well in the fantasy department all by his-self.
Cora, thanks for the invite! I'll be sure and put Rapid City on the prospective list. I'll have to wrap my Silverado pickup truck with camouflage in order to slip by Dex's sentries. I'll knock three times followed by whistle so you'll know it's me. When does it start to snow---oh, never mind. that's a silly question. It's lible to snow there most anytime..
I hadn't planned on taking Sharon on this truckn trip. I've got her still punching the time clock in order to pay my fuel bill.

You gotta getcha one of those conflower blue eyed buxom sweethearts. They're corn fed, rosey cheeked girls that were built whan meat was cheap....farm girls always seem a tad lustier and down to earth than their urban counterparts. You have to check em out to make sure you have the genuine artical and not a "Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue" immitation. All you have to do, is turn em upside down, undo their bib overalls and check their bare bottoms to make sure their fanny dimples correspond to the ventilation holes pattern on a John Deere tractor seat. If they do you've got tourself a real genuine bonifide keeper....It's like checking Maryland girls for oyster shucking thumb and Texas gals for Teralinga Chili Cookoff colon, by Midas. Steamboat...Once you get yourself a corn fed sweetheart then you will have to contact Phizer Phamacuticals and start ordering the hen eggt size Viagra. Corabelle sent me my official suiters rejection slip...It was on card stock a yard square and it read...GET LOST CREEP, which seems to negate any future options.....Ralph seems to have just slipped right past me. I need a beer. DEX
