At random: Probably the most expensive ballast ever carried by a ship was two tons of gold and eighteen tons of silver coins carried by the U.S. submarine TROUT while on a trip from Corregidor to Pearl Harbor early in World War II. TROUT had removed her moveable ballast to allow for a larger cargo of ammunition to be transported for the defenders on the embattled island. Lcdr. Fenno, TROUT's CO, planned on replacing the ballast with sand bags, but found none were available. The gold and silver from the Bank of the Philippines was substituted as ballast, which also solved the problem of removing the treasure to a safe place prior to invasion by the enemy.

Recent news out of your neck of the woods. Baby whale appears to be trying to be adopted by a yacht. Wonder about the resolution?

It was euthanized some three or 4 days ago.

Nancy, as John P Bay stated, the baby whale that originally was named 'Colin' but magically became 'Collette' ( remember Sydney is the Gay Capital of the Southern Hemisphere so anything can and does happen ) was euthanised about a week ago as it's health had deteriorated and it wouldn't leave for open water.

The news was funny one night.......they had an Aboriginal 'Whale Whisperer' talk to it, evidently the whale told him he was lost and couldn't find his mum.

No kidding batman, we could see that and I am not Aboriginal. Wonder how much he was paid for that startling knowledge?

John, you have to be leading a sheltered life! Didn't you see Crocodile Dundee I, II, III, .... XLVII ...? That man could communicate with any animal - even some up in your neck of the woods as I recall

Ya know, Blue was telling me something about John Bay's possible heritage but he never did finish the story.

Don't need any cases of crabs, John, but a case of lobstahs would be ideal. If that came about I know Blue would find a way back here if he had to swim.

Ahhhh hell John, I can hear Blue drooling and slobbering from here. I know he'll try and blackmail me into sending him some. I just might slip off that way one day. The itch to get on the road again has been bugging me.

Like from Summerville to ? Do you see me standing beside the road with my thumb out?

Is Summerville a suburb of Charlotte?

Blue, Do you actually expect us to believe you went back for only seconds? Your nose will be growing like Pinnocio.

I knew it was something like that. Is Charlotte in North Carolina? Or, is there even such a place? Obviously, I was posting without a map. Should have known better.

Hmmm

Yes, Charlotte is in North Carolina. It's right on the border with South Carolina about mid way east & West.
