At random: Interests in submarines extends to royalty and presidents. The King of England and the King and Queen of Spain are among those who have made submerged cruises in submarines. As a result of a trip in an early United States submarine, President "Teddy" Roosevelt ordered extra compensation for personnel serving in the "Silent Service." President Harry Truman made a 440 foot dive in a captured German submarine. The first President to cruise aboard a nuclear submarine was President Eisenhower who rode the USS SEAWOLF out of Newport, Rhode Island on September 26, 1957.

Subject: Hi Gang...

The Lynn's have arrived safely in Louisville...we pulled in about an hr. ago...we left around 9 AM and with several essential stops...food, gas, toidy breaks...we are here.

This post will be short, as my eyeballs have fuzzed over. We both shared the driving...very interesting, too...but will relate that at another time.

I tried to make a post to Pep's post before we left but the old laptop was having a fit...so, I will do it now...

The poem you related to all of us is beautiful and very heartfelt...keep your chin up...OK? I agree with Darrin...and will raise a glass to you, Clystie and everyone here, when the "witching hour" arrives later today...

Cora, I read your emails...will write tomorrow.

Nite all.
