At random: USS SKATE and USS SEADRAGON, after affecting a historic rendezvous under the ice, surfaced together at the North Pole through an opening in the ice on August 1962. What really happened: We didn't surface together, Skate surfaced first. Then we (Seadragon) fired yellow flares forward and aft so Skate could tell us how we were lined up. Remember, under-ice was primitive in these days. Skate called back down rapidly that one flare surfaced on her starboard side and the other to port. She requested we reposition before vertical surfacing. We did. - Coyote (Owen Carlson)

You also can't have hollow point ammunition if you are indeed fortunate enough to own a legal pistol.

Your former Govenor lost out for a Homosexual affair

Several of your local legislators got indited for fraud

Your State educational department was under investigation for fraud and embezzlement.

They discovered that retireing educators were selling back all their sick days, as if none were ever taken, when the medical records show major surgery in many cases. No, not during their Summer off.

It may be first in many things, but to a New Yorker it is still Jersey, spoken with a certain degree of contempt.

Dear Mr. Sewer Pipe,

To clarify, Joisey ain't my state, nor is my governor a sissy. My ex governor was a hooker devotee! but that does not make him a sissy, just stoopid!

I notice from your sign off that you aren't even from the real Albany....

As always

First off, wasn't directed at any individual, only the State. Secondly I was born in Brooklyn. Raised in Brooklyn and Queens, Went to High School in Bedford Stuyvesant, and College in Harlem. Plus this is the real Albany, pronounced AL Benny here abouts. Still don't like Jersey. Had to pass through it on the way to the family farms in Pennsylavania. They ran the first speed traps along US 22, now I 78. Used to have the radar mounted on a tripod, and the judge sitting at a bench in the back of a pickup truck. Seemed no matter what, if you weren't from Jersey, you were fined. I try to avoid the place whenever possible, and now that my Mom lives in Vermont, that is most of the time. Passing thru last April, all the talk shows were really wound up about all the corruption in State government. Often wondered how that worked out.

I can remember back in the '60's--- yes, Blue, I can remember back that far-- the question was asked--New Jersey, is that a State or a disease? During my trucking years it was-- New Jersey is a nice place to be from--far from.
Yeah, I'm originally from New York--Buffalo that is and yes, I know the question--am I braggin' or complainin'? Some times both at the same time.

I'm born and raised in NJ and proud of it. I even live in Hudson County - about as "North Jersey" as you can get.

Short of living in Manhattan, I can't think of anywhere I'd rather live.

We're not all highways and pavement. and besides, we have Atlantic City. :-)

And yes, I *do* eat Taylor Ham (in a diner) and go "down the shore." :-)

(Proud to be from Exit 15W and Exit 145 - if you know NJ, you know where they are)

Revelation of just one serious falsehood damns the entire list in my book.
New Jersey is a major seaport state with the largest seaport in the US, located in Elizabeth. Nearly 80 percent of what our nation imports comes Through Elizabeth Seaport first.
The above statement just didn't seem right to me (even discounting all the typos and errors noted by Blue, who, being a 'Strine' speaker, is barely qualified to comment at all), so I went to a more authoritative source here and quickly disproved it.
The FACTS are:
1. Elizabeth didn't even rank high enough to get its own stats shown; it's lumped together with all of NYC and Joisey. Those combined stats give NY/NJ #3 status. the #1 port overall is the Port of South Louisiana; #2 is Houston!

Tonnage data:

Rank Port Name Total Domestic Foreign Imports Exports

1 South Louisiana, LA, Port of 212,564,930 116,884,176 95,680,754 32,540,431 63,140,323

2
Houston, TX 185,050,168 64,457,446 120,592,722 85,484,988
35,107,734

3 New York, NY and NJ 137,484,344 70,217,807 67,266,537 59,225,608 8,040,929

Looking at just imports, the combined ports of NY and NJ handled far less than 10% of the country's import tonnage.

Besides all that, the best tomatoes in America are the heirloom Cherokee Purples that my youngest daughter grows in her yard outside of Sonora CA. If you can get 'em before the deer get through the barriers and steal them, that is.

And that's a fact you can take to the bank.

I was OK up to the 1st brewery in America. I thought Yeungling in Philly was the 1st. We NYers don't like N.J. for stealing the Giants. I don't know which comedian said it, but the Giants sign on the stadium is pointed at NYC. It's like they're giving the city the finger. Sausage and peppers, I think there's a few folks in NYC who'd argue that one. The hard roll with butter is a NYC thing and it's best with a "regular coffee". Some day they'll resolve who owns Bedloes Island and I hop NJ loses.

OK, I got you all.

NEWFOUNDLAND (my home) is the most easterly in North America. My house on Sugarloaf Road is one of five that are the most easterly in North America. We have 4 seasons, June, July, August and Winter and we eat smoked squid when we can get it. 8 weeks before the first snow but there's Christmas stuff in the stores already! You know, the usual stuff musket balls, bear grease and whiskey. Furriners are called, "Come from aways," and the rest of us are Newfs (and usually related). We have the biggest per-capita Loony Bin and the best Loonies, only those are kept in the Provincial Government. Our money can be used in Monopoly Games but the markers (little cars etc) have a good exchange rate. We have one submarine for the whole east coast, drive American cars and watch Coronation Street on the Ejucashoinal channel. You guys have mice in your house? We get Polar Bears! Moose Steak, salt-cod, eggs and dark rum is for breakfast!

We have the best fighting Regiment in Canada, the Royal Newfoundland Regiment and we drink a rum called, "Screech." No kidding... We know how to party, in fact the UN was called to break a party up near St. Mary’s Bay last Saturday. We are about the same size as England with only 200,000 population, that's why we go camping - to meet each other. We have a Provincial flag that looks like some 3rd rate African Republic but are dammed proud of it and this... our Province. We remember what the Yanks did for us during and after the war and... we love ya!

So there! Beat that!

Hairball.

Great to see the "hairball" back on the wire again. Now that he has surfaced for some fresh air maybe he'll tell us where and what he's been doing with himself and the excellent health care he has been giving to Rae. How's she ding, Mate? Give her a big hug from all of us.
I know for a fact that he needs some fresh air--smoked squid--yeowee!

Argh me hearties, gimme a jug of Captain Morgan's Black death and I'll tell you lies! All of them true, no sh*t! Oh my aching bones it's good to smell you guys.

Rae is a LOT better and I'm as disgusting as it gets (goes with my Eternal Dink status!). I have all the raw passion of a youngster - but none of the energy which leaves me beer and BS-ing! I love to go down to the mess, pull up a bucket of sand, put my tin hat on and - when bribed with a few beers - tell the youngsters lies that would make their grannies hair curl, in fact... I probably knew some of them........ shudder... But hey, $2 is $2, (that's with her teeth out) at least it used to be. Now it's $3 down at the harbor. What worries me are the few lads in the Mess who take an unusual interest in the flogging... "No Bill! It was a punishment NOT a reward!" Nowadays you get these light in the loafer, Late' sipping geeks run across the brow asking, "Excuse me sailor, do you have flogging on this ship?" ... "No!, It's a submarine, there's no room! But you could check with the Wardroom... heh heh heh..."

Just come off a l-o-n-g leave, Rae and me did some camping up in the Gross Morne Mountains, now that's what I like about Newfoundland... we have these large hills, but we call them mountains, never trust a Newfie! Unless you are in trouble and need a buddy. They truly are amazing people. True: Churchill described them as the finest small-boat sailors in the world and they make up a large proportion of our navy today - and do very well.

Gen. Rick Hillier was our CinC up until a few weeks ago is a Newfie and did more for the Forces than anyone has. Long before he was CinC I met him at Christmas bash at the mess, one hell of a guy!

The Canadian deputy Naval Attaché (Washington) is a Newfie! Beware, he's probably stolen all the ashtrays and towels by now! He’s another truly GOOD man – who shall remain nameless

All for now, gonna try and be ridiculous and annoying... I have a reputation to defend!

You are a bloody good bunch - but I ain't gonna tell you! Many pints to you all!

Fuzziegnutts.
