| Plankowner Posts: 5024 Location: Gulfport, MS | Subject: Obit Messenger results for 09/13/08. - (The Repository) GUENZI, Gary A., 60, of Canton, passed away Wednesday September 10, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Swickley, PA, a son of Narcissa Collins Guenzi, of Canton, and the late Louis Guenzi, was raised here and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1966, and returned to Canton 10 years ago after serving in the Navy. He joined the U S Navy in July of 1967 and retired July 31, 1997 as an E-9 Command Master Chief. He proudly served in the Submarine Force for 26 years, and finished his Naval Career on a surface destroyer, the USS Fletcher (DD-992) out of Pearl Harbor. For the past several years he has been employed by the Colonial Club Town Homes as a part-time maintenance worker. Gary was a member of the Canton McKinley Rifle & Pistol Club since 2004 and just took up the bow & arrow for archery and hunting. Since retirement from the Navy he loved to travel, go camping, do woodworking and crafts. He was an adoring and loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and uncle. Besides his mother he is survived by his wife, Melinda R. Guenzi, with whom he celebrated their 10th Wedding Anniversary on May 18th; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Scott Carter, of Mandeville, LA; one son and daughter- in-law, Kevin and Tammy Guenzi, of Lakewood, WA; four grandchildren, Cole and Lily, Savanna and Bethany; one brother and sister-in- law, Chuck and Barb Guenzi, of Pearisburg, OH; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Monday at 3 p.m. in the Formet- Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. Nancy Conley officiating. Friends may call Monday 2-3 p.m. before the service. Interment in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gary's memory may be made to Melinda, and she will make a donation to Gary's favorite charities. Formet-Clevenger & Gordon (330) 456-4766 www.gordonfuneralhomes.com - (The Meadville Tribune) MONTGOMERY, Don, 81, passed away at his home at 295 Rosemont Farm Road, Franklin, on Monday, September 8, 2008.Born in Emlenton, September 16, 1926, he was a son of the late Trenna O. and Esther Kathryn Ferringer Montgomery.He served in the U.S. Navy on a submarine in Pearl Harbor and in Iwo Jima, having enlisted at the age of 17. Mr. Montgomery received an honorable discharge. Upon his return he worked in auto sales in Franklin and Oil City. Mr. Montgomery joined John Conte to form the C and M Sales Co. Inc. in the mid-1960s. After many years of financial success, Mr. Montgomery retired in 2006, but continued to work as a consultant until his death.Mr. Montgomery enjoyed being around people, as part owner of The Carriage House in Franklin and Ricci’s in Meadville. A member of the Franklin Club, Elks Lodge 110, Wanango Country Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Franklin, and Taylor Hose in Meadville, he enjoyed socializing with his many friends and especially loved playing poker and following auto racing.In 1964 he married Doris Stephens Reib, who preceded him in death April 8, 2008.Mr. Montgomery is survived by a son, Donald B. Montgomery and his partner, Michelle Stanton, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and stepdaughters, Nancy Reib Witherup and Sally Reib Kilmer, both of Franklin. Surviving grandchildren include Natalie Montgomery Ruckman and Nathan Montgomery, both of Las Vegas, Nev., Shawn Witherup of Kennerdell, Kelly Witherup Dolecki and her husband, Andy, of Oil City, Anna Kilmer of Clinton, Conn., Elizabeth Kilmer Culley and her husband, John, of Allentown, N.J., Alice Kilmer of Boulder, Colo., and Catherine Kilmer of Chevy Chase, Md.; along with 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Montgomery is also survived by his sisters, Mary Montgomery and twin sisters, Jane Montgomery Horneman, and Jean Montgomery Barger and her husband, Cliff.In addition to his parents, Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by two of his brothers, Orville Montgomery and Larry Montgomery; and a sister, Anna Montgomery Kelly.Friends may call Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. in the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk St., Franklin.Private graveside services will be conducted in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family.Memorial contributions, if desired, may be directed to the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County or the American Cancer Society. - (Wenatchee World) WILSON, William Curtis, 79, left this earth on September 5, 2008. A loving father, brother and grandfather, he was born January 5, 1929, to Lester Alinx and Alice E. (Thomas) Wilson in Thermopolis, WY. "Bill", as he was known, graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper, WY. After graduation, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy Submarine School, serving aboard the USS Carp and the USS Nereus during the Korean War. He proudly served our country until 1950, leaving to marry his first wife, Marilyn, who gave him four beautiful daughters. On August 27, 1965, he married the love of his life, Iona Mae Paronto in Powell, WY. They moved to Rock Island, WA, where they made their home for over 30 years, until they passed. Bill, being a jack-of-all-trades, worked in the oil business, was an airplane builder, vacuum cleaner salesman and his lifelong profession, a carpenter. An avid fisherman, camper and hunter, he loved the outdoors. Together with his wife, they actively watched and supported their favorite football team, the Seattle Seahawks. Survivors include his loving daughters, Kathy (Russ) Matney of Cashmere, Connie Klotz of El Cajon, CA, Billie K. O'Brien of East Wenatchee and Sandy (Glen) Graf of Cashmere; two step-children, Deb (Tom) Lyons of East Wenatchee and Dennis Paronto of Oregon; his sister, Shirley Austin of Casper, WY; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 38 years, Iona Mae, in May 2004; and his brother, Les. Upon his request, no Services will be held. Proud to be Irish, an Irish Wake will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008, in Cashmere, at the home of Kathy Matney. Telford's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements. | ||
