At random: Records for enemy shipping sunk by U.S. submarines during World War II are held by two boats built by Electric Boat. The USS FLASHER sank 100,231 tons of Japanese shipping, while the USS TAUTOG holds the record for the most ships - 26.

Been three years to the day since we lost the Cowboy (Gary McLaughlin).

Bash at the Ranch beat any other submariner event of which I'm aware for camaraderie, atmosphere, food, and just plain fun (IMHO).

Guys like Gary are few and far between.  I really miss him!

Yes Bill he was one of a kind - all of us at the Sterlet reunions miss him too. He had only a few months as our First Commander of the New Sterlet Association and we lost him.

Our prayers are with Sue whever she may be hibernating these days as we remember one
HELL OF A SURMBARINER.

God speed "Cowboy" your missed

I find myself at a "loss"...I only knew Gary through the BBS's and emails. But he made me feel so very welcome...in this "Bastion of Boys Only" (The Submarine Service). His gentleness and kindness to this NQP was to say... something I did not expect. But he was a Submariner, FIRST CLASS...in every sense of the word.

I know that he and Zeke are up in the "Great Reward" with Ron watching over all of us.

God Bless you, Gary. May your guiding light always shine down on us.

FYI: Sue will be moving from her new/old digs in Ozark, Missouri to the nifty new ones on the north bank of the Columbia River (Washington State) next month - no house warming scheduled but a toast or two up on our end is forthcoming...

So she decided on Washington? Last email I got she was thinking Oregon. Good for her, I figure we'll hear from her and get pictures once she gets settled.

It would be really cool to be a 'fly on the wall' at the reunion of Cowboy and Warshot at Fiddler's Green. Guess I'll just have to bide my time 'til I can join that party!
Frankly, I'm in no rush ... but I do anticipate my homecoming.
Party!
