HEBERT, Rene E., 80, died Monday, September 1, 2008. He was born February 29, 1928 in Holyoke, MA, the son of Rene G. and Cecile (Brin) Hebert. Born on Leap Day, Mr. Hebert enjoyed his 20th birthday party with friends and loved ones in Feb. of this year. He grew up in New England and attended the University of Vermont and Western New England College. Mr. Hebert served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was deployed on an aircraft carrier as well as a submarine until his honorable discharge in 1949. He worked for Springfield Cast Products and Monsanto before moving to the Chicago area in the 1970s and continuing his career as a Manufacturer's Representative. Mr. Hebert eventually founded his own company, Hebert Tech Sales, and remained the CEO of that company until his retirement. His skill and love of golf were widely known, and he taught himself how to build his own golf clubs in order to achieve the perfect balance, weight, flex, and loft in his set of clubs. Survivors include his longtime friend, Leila Leming; his three daughters, Dianne (Kay) Hebert, Carol Hebert, and Mary Ann Hebert; three grandsons, Seth Mandeville, James Hebert, and Nicholas Matte, and a great-grandson Alexander Hebert.
