At random: "I propose to you a new arm of war, as formidable as it is economical. Submarine navigation, which has been sometimes attempted, but as all know without results, owing to want of suitable opportunities, is now a problematical thing no more." - Brutus de Villeroi in a letter to President Lincoln, 1862

In port I worn Wellingtons (actually half Wellington is the proper name, Wellingtons go up to the knee) from the time I was a Second Class. Underway I went through several types of footwear. I settled on Sperry Boat shoes on the Aspro. I wear them daily to this day and am on my fourth pair (this pair is thanks to a puppy) since 1979.
