I talked with Doc last night to let him know about our friend Joel Staggs' passing. He was upbeat inspite of the fact he doesn't have power or a hot water heater....it was outside in the front yard, upright. He's got a lot of clean up to do and I guess there are enough places open where he can get food and beer.

I also talked with McMichael and he was doing ok, along with Billie and Mr. Kitty. I'll be taking some stuff down to him later this week and will stop in and check on the Beagle Doc and probably leave another obscene phone call on Ric's phone. I know he enjoys them, particularly the heavy breathing.

Pete Coart, of the USSVI Cavalla base took about three feet of water in his house and has lost a lot. He was upbeat and cheerful but I think he was pretty overwhelmed at the destruction....and his lovely wife Marcie ended up breaking her ankle about the same time. (Pete was the shipmate that drove with me to take Jimmy Evans books to the USSVI Library in North Little Rock.)
