On November 10th in 1775 the Marine Corps was formed at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia. The morning they started signing people up any new recruit was given a free tankard of rum. They didn't get as many recruits as they wanted. So around noon they announced that from now on all new recruits would get two tankards of rum.In the back ranks, Dex said, "We didn't have it that good in the Old Corps"

Come on Mad Dog..... You know that Bells and Thelma weren't on East Main.... Does "One Half Block From The Cotton Picking Main Gate" ring a bell?

Holy jumpin' Jeezus Khe-righst!  That's funny.  I love cerebral humor (aka G. Carlin) and "in simplicity hides power".  There's nothing funnier than a short joke that laughs long.  Nice job with this... every time I read it, I LMAO!

So glad we made your day, Don. It has been said that it doesn't take much to entertain a sailor.

And, IMHO, there is simply nothing quite so entertaining as pinging on a fellow sailor, especially if you can exploit a chink in his armor!

Bob, way back when, we had the old saying,"can't get to me! I'll kill you first!" It was pretty much the plan of the day to ping on one another to see just who you could get to. As I said it don't take much to entertain a sailor.
Charleston Base USSVI had it's monthly meeting last night(every 2nd Thursday) and it's always neat to see and hear the pinging fun. We had 102 attending last night, which is our usual attendance, give or take a couple.
