Shipmates,

Warshot's passing affected me deeply and I'm still struggling with his departure to Eternal Patrol.  I've decided to put together a tribute page as I have a done for a few others.  As an example, please see the one I did for "Big Al" here: http://www.submarinesailor.com/biography/bigal/bigal.asp

Please send any stories/anecdotes/sea stories about Warshot to me via email.  Please include any photos you have.  No story/memory is too short... one-liners are most welcome.  Also feel free to be long-winded.  I will go thru all the posts made in his honor on this bbs and extract bits and pieces there as well.

I never met Ron but we exchanged MANY emails about his experiences over the years.  Whenever I had a question, Ron gave me a well-thought-out answer or he researched it and got back to me.  He never let me down.

If you have even a brief, simple memory of Ron, please send it on - it would mean a LOT to me!  We all have an unpayable debt to our WWII brothers... this is a chance to say a formal thank-you to one of them - don't let it pass by.

Have a great day... I'm off for a little grouse hunting near the Canadian border... cheers!

Don

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. WEBMASTER!  What you are doing is wonderful, not only for Ron's memory, but for everyone who knew him.
He was a true hero and whatever anyone can contribute to this undertaking will be a "permanent record" for all of us to share in and enjoy...

KUDOS, DON!!!

Let's see now...which birthday is it? Seems as though when you were here, we (you & I) decided that I could adopt you because you are very near the age of the son that I lost when he was just a little boy. He'd be fifty-two years old this year, so are you fifty-three? Or do we go the other way and make you fifty-one? Nah - I'm sure it's fifty-three.

So, a big fifty-three (at least?) candles on your cake?

Hip, hip, H - o - o - r - a - y!!!!!

Hey, I'll drink to that. (and fifty more) !!

Hic.

Did the ADM go on eternal patrol? I wasn't aware of that. As for warshot, I met him at the convention in Reno and was very fortunate to have crossed paths with him. A true hero of the Submarine community who will be greatly missed for as long as most of us are still alive.
God speed Warshot!

It was a tribute for Big Al's retirement, Don did not have to kill him first.

Good to see you are out pushing some electrons around the internet. We ought to get togather and tour the Blueback again one of these days.

Blue...he was the "Keeper of the Ducks".  When the USSVI Convention was in Little Rock, the main hotel had a little show...with ducks.  Anyway, the keeper would lead the ducks from the indoor pond to the elevator and up to their little homes on the roof.  I guess Ron was the
"special guest" that day.  It was really a cute thing they did with the ducks...and to watch them waddling out of the elevator...well, I guess you had to be there.  Here is a photo of the ducks...I hope you can make them out...as you can see they got the "red carpet treatment".
