It was built by David Bushnell at Saybrook, Connecticut, just a few miles from the present site of Electric Boat Division of the General Dynamics Corporation, and the U.S. Naval Submarine Base.

ANDERSON, Scott B., passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Mr. Anderson, a Daily Herald employee for 16 years, was born January 22, 1962. He was a Navy submariner for four years. Scott is survived by his daughter, Hannah Anderson, 11, of Bartlett; parents Henry and Constance Anderson of Edenville, MI; sister, Cathy (Dan) Allen, of Dublin, OH; sister, and Susan (Jeff) Shyshka of Clovis, CA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local American Legion Chapter. A celebration of the life of Scott B. Anderson will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Schaumburg Courtyard Marriott, 1311 American Lane, Schaumburg.

ZETYE, Steven John, 58, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Born in Highland Park, MI in 1950, Steve raised his family in Trumbull and later moved to Shamong, NJ where he retired. Steve served as a Petty Officer on the submariner Nathanael Greene from 1969 to 1974. He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut. He worked as an electrical engineer for his entire career. Steve had many interests including classic cars, home improvement, family history and community involvement through foster care. His biggest interest was always in his family. Steve was a father not only to his own children, but also to countless foster children as a foster parent for the state of Connecticut and the Casey Agency over the years. As a retiree, he was a member of the "Zipper Club," as well as the "Zapper Club," which are groups from the Deborah Heart and Lung Center. The Zipper Club is for patients who have undergone open-heart surgery and the Zapper Club is for patients with pacemakers. After his own arduous surgery and recovery in 2002, Steve counseled other patients and families at Deborah who were about to have these dangerous procedures. Steve was the son of Robert Zetye and Jacquelyn Lane; brother of Kathryn Barry; he is survived by his wife, of 35 years, Cynthia; three sons, Raymond and wife, Julia, Phillip, Kenneth and wife, Rebecca Zetye; his daughters, Regina Zetye and Sarah Martell and Nicole Underhill; his grandsons, Elijah and Domanik Martell; as well as countless foster children. After 34 years of struggling against cancer and heart disease, Steve succumbed to his damaged heart. His will to live and perseverance were legendary and his legacy of love and dignity will live forever through his family. Services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 3 p.m. at 16 Wilted Grass Trail in Shamong, N.J. and Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist church of Greater Bridgeport, 96 Chapel Stree, Stratford. Friends are will gather at both services an hour beforehand to chat and tell stories about Steve. In lieu of flowers, please direct contributions to Camp Jewell YMCA, 6 Prock Hill Road, Colebrook, CT 06021 under the Steve Zetye Memorial Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dennison Funeral Home, Vincentown, NJ.
