At random: Robert Fulton, inventor of the steamboat, was an avid submarine enthusiast. He built several submersible warships, one of which was known as the Nautilus.

Subject: Well I did it!!!

I went out 9 days ago and got my first tattoo. It wasn't a spur of the moment thing, it was planned, I even made an appointment. The artist is an active duty Chief Corpsman in the Coast Guard, he has his own studio at his home, all clean, sterile and meticulous. I had seen his work on others at the Academy, so we talked and I gave him a picture of what I wanted, as soon as I get a picture of it on my 'puter I'll post it. It's even sub related...

I'm not longer a VIRGIN!!!!

Billy Bob

It looks like this...ones a redhead, ones a blonde...looks good on me!!!

...Yeah, but there is nothing like sitting around a sweaty tattoo parlor with half a dozen drunk sailors trying to pick out something "really cool" while someone is out in the street puking his guts out after having had his turn in the chair. The walls covered with thousands of colorful cartoons from the funny to the morbid. You, waiting your turn as the guy in the chair tries to stop from screaming as the needle buzzes into his flesh and you telling your buddies that you won't be like that. A few turn and leave as the blood starts to flow........ Ahh, yes, shades of Painless Nell's or a place with a better rep.. Doc Webb's on a Friday or Saturday night in San Diego.... and probably a hundred other navy towns around the world............ Those were the days....... Congrats BillyBob... Don't pick the scabs.....

It's about time, you big wuzzy.....Didja cry?

BZ Billy Bob, welcome to the club.

I've been wanting to get dolphins inked on my upper arm for many years now. Last time I tried to get them we was in NLON and the COB/corpsman said if I get an infection he's gonna kick my ass all over the boat. Turns out the tattoo parlor was closed by the board of health! Phew, that was a close call. Forget about the infection. I was more worried about the Doc kicking my ass all through the boat.

There were no open parlors in NL when I got there Thanksgiving '64. They had been closed sometime just before that I understand. Had to go to Providence to get on or NY after that.
