FISCHER, Robert L., 75, passed away and joined his beloved wife Antoinette (Toni) of fifty years on Tuesday evening November 4, 2008. Bob, born May 7, 1933, was the eldest son of the late Harold Fischer and was the patriarch of a loving family. His legacy is left in the hands of his four sons Steven (Linda) of Hayward, James (Anne) of La Crescenta, CA; Thomas (Reina) of Martinez and Robert Fischer II of Cordova, TN; grandchildren Steven, Brian, Diana, Natalie and Sierra. He was Brother to William (Bill) Fischer. Bob worked for IBM Corporation for 34 years as a field service engineer in the early days of computer development. As a Navy veteran, Bob served on the submarine USS Cusk (SS-348) from 1951 to 1953. Memorial service will be conducted Tuesday November 11, 2008 at 1:30pm, CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES, 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA. Chapel of the Chimes 510-471-3363

GROSSKREUZ, Henry, 83, of Montello, formerly of Milwaukee died November 4, 2008. Husband of Lee for 62 years. Father of Robert (Diana), Susan (Ronald) Perron, Mary Lee Matovich, and Patricia (Erik) Olsen. Further survived by 4 grandchildren and brother William. Henry was a proud Navy submarine veteran of World War II and retiree of the Milwaukee Police Department. A private family service was held.

ZEILLER, Warren (Mickey), 78, passed away November 4, 2008. He was born to Arthur and Ruth Zeiller on November 11, 1929 in Weehawken, NJ. Warren graduated from Colorado State with a B.S. degree in Animal Husbandry. He joined the US Navy in 1951 and served for 4 years in WesPac on the submarine USS Diodon (SS-349). He then earned an M.A. degree in Business from Michigan State University. In 1960, he began his career with Wometco Miami Seaquarium as a diver and then as Vice President and General Manager. He retired in 1985 and later became Executive Director of the Tropical Everglades Visitor Association. Warren was a Life Loyal Sigma Chi, Past President of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables of which he was a member for over 30 years. He served on the Junior Orange Bowl Committee, the Boards of the Coral Gables Youth Center, the Greater Miami Humane Society and the Booster Club of Columbus High School. Warren was also a member of the Singing Miamians of Pinecrest, Treasurer of the local Explorers Club, member of USSVI, and the local Sub-Vets Base and member of the Land Acquisition Selection Committee. He has authored five books, including the recently published The Florida Keys Overseas Railway by Signature Press. He was in numerous films and television shows, including Jacques Cousteau's "The Forgotten Mermaid," "To Tell the Truth" and 130 episodes of "Arthur and Company." He was a beloved husband, father and "Grumpy." He and his wife Chardy resided in Coral Gables for 23 years and Miami for the last 24. He is also survived by his children, Dianne Beidel (Paul) and Todd Zeiller (Jennifer) and grandsons, PJ, Brett and Grant Beidel and Dylan Zeiller. His is also survived by his brother, Donald Zeiller of Colleyville, TX. McCOLLUM, Jr., Arthur H., CDR, USN, Ret. 78, of New London, NH died Monday, October 13, 2008 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. He was born August 24, 1930 in San Pedro, California, the son of the late Rear Adm. Arthur Howard McCollum USN (Ret.) and Margaret (Benninghoff) McCollum. He graduated from Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal, VA in 1948, and the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis in 1952. Following an initial tour which included a Mediterranean cruise on the USS Newport News, he went on to attend Submarine School. Thereafter, a major part of his military career was spent in submarine service. He was in the commissioning crew and served as navigation officer on the USS Ethan Allen which was on patrol in the Norwegian Sea during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After obtaining a Masters in Engineering Administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Cdr. McCollum became an Engineering Duty Officer. He served a tour of duty at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA, and completed active duty service as the Assistant Program Manager for Submarines in the Anti-Submarine Warfare Project Office. Upon retirement from military service, he continued to work as a consultant supporting several submarine and surface ship programs. In late 2005, Cdr. McCollum and his wife, Lorna, moved from Fairfax, VA to New London, NH. He enjoyed interests in history, photography and genealogy, and especially loved a good game of tennis! He was also very proud to have been the editor of the Golden Lucky Bag commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the graduation of The United States Naval Academy Class of 1952. The book was published in 2003. Survivors include his wife, Lorna (Ramsden) McCollum, and a daughter, Elizabeth C. McCollum of Boulder, Colorado. Contributions in his memory may be made to the US Naval Academy Alumni Association (Class of 1952), 247 King George Street, Annapolis, MD 21402. A Memorial Service will be planned for a future date.

CARTER, Michael Andrew, 79, died on October 13, 2008, in Carlsbad, NM. Mike, born on June 19, 1939, in Oak Creek, CO, was a former resident of Elk Grove, CA and is survived by his wife Patricia. Mike was a retired Navy Submariner and a member of the original commissioning Staff at Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station. Services were held in Carlsbad with Military honors performed by the Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard. Remembrances may be made for a Memorial Scholarship to Michael Bircumshaw, POB 892616, Temcula, CA 92589-2616, checks pay to Scamp Base; or to American Cancer Society.

I'll bet that Mr. Carter was born in 1929. How else could he be a year older than me and born 9 years after me?
