At random: The first diesel engines built by Electric Boat for submarines were installed (1913) in the USS NAUTILUS and SEAWOLF, namesakes of the first nuclear powered submarines, also built by Electric Boat.

I can't figure out why companies sailing into those waters don't put heavily armed guars on thier ships. A couple 50 cal. machine guns mounted on deck should do the trick. If a couple of those pirate boats get blown out of the water, the rest of them will loose the will to fight.

I saw an interview of a Merchant Captain who felt that if the ships were armed the pirates might use their rockets against the ship. He was afraid that the rocked could damage the hull and cause a massive oil leak or worse. The rockets mentioned were anti-tank rockets.
I personally believe a nice little 20mm cannon, (or two), could handle the situation before the rocket could be employed.
Something needs to be done. The Pirates are becoming much to bold.

I may be wrong on this, but I would assume that one of the problems is that many ships fly "flags of convenience", with no particular national loyality, thus negating the will to place Navy guards on them such as we did on our Merchant Marine ships during WWII.

If there were more Destroyer Escorts around, they could escort ships thru the troubled area and even sink a few more of these mother ships.

Until the world visits military fiorce on these terrorists, it will continue. They only understand brute force.

Bravo Zulu to the Indian navy for their action.

And ,why are we calling these terrorists pirates; does that sound romantic to the media???
