At random: There are more airplanes at the bottom of the ocean than there are submarines in the sky; therefore I chose submarines over aviation.

Happy Mayflower Compact Day

New plow. Installed yesterday. We are now fully rigged for winter.

Why the Mayflower Compact ref? It was signed on 21 November 1620.

21 Nov. is also my daughter's birthday. So naturally I had to send her an
e-mail with this image so she could see "her shiny new present".
Ain't daddy generous??

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Useless background info area:

The dammed plow cost a little more than half what we paid in 1979
for a new Dodge Sno-Commander 3/4 ton plow truck. But hey - can't
put a price on good winter fun

Oh - and the old '79?? Plowed her last flake last winter and
gone on to truck heaven.

Thanks for the link. That do look like some real purty country there
Ric. Even though our Adirondacks pale by comparison, I certainly do
have an appreciation for those western mountain conditions. Reckon
its mainly an order of magnitude.

We have an interesting snow area to the West of us: on the lee side of
Lake Ontario from Watertown to about 30 mile north of Syracuse and
particularly a region called the Tug Hill Plateau. They get mega-snows
until the lake temperature drops sufficiently to reduce the moisture
pickup from the westerly winds.

Certainly nothing like your Western mountains... but hey we make do with what
we've got.

Here in St. Lawrence County we are far enough to the east that the
lake effect normally doesn't impact us so much. Although not unusual
to get 6 inches a day of snow for a couple weeks at a time with
occasional temp dip to -37F (lowest I've seen it).

The mountain roads are actually easier to travel than that snow belt
area of I-81 south out of Watertown.

Friends/relatives from the south cannot comprehend why anyone in
their right mind would choose to live here. My late mother-in-law (So.
Carolina) used to say she would never live anywhere you can't see
the ground for six months out of the year.

Personally I'd rather live here than in some place where the air
conditioning has to run six months out of the year.

Do you heat that big house with wood only? Looks like a huge stack of firewood. Show us your chain saw and wood splitter.

When we moved to Florida I traded in my 'Fisher Power Angle' for a riding mower.
