Mayhbe what we need is a return of the US Navy gun crews aboard merchant vessels like WWII. Fire a few surface to surface missiles at the pirates and perhaps this stuff will abate or even go away. Screw a bunch of PC and diplomacy just turn them into crispy critters.

How about calling in an air strike on one of their "mother ships?"
Or why not form merchant ships into convoys escorted by a couple Destroyers?
the only thing those bastards understand if force. Someone has to get nasty with them before they poke their tails between their legs and go home. As long as the shipping firms keep paying the ransome, it will continue.
