CHINN, Robert Wayne Chinn, MCPO, USN, Ret., passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Trident Medical Center. Bob was born in Denver, Colorado on August 3, 1943 to Virgie Parsons Chinn of Denver, Colorado and the late Howard Chinn. He worked at the Charleston Air Force Base Commissary. He was a member of the Charleston Base Submarine Veterans. He was a former President of the Charleston Auburon Society. He was an avid Gardener to which his family and friends looked forward to. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Howard Chinn and two children, Randy Lane and Ronny Lane. Surviving are his wife, Billie Easterling Chinn, mother, brother, Carl Chinn (Connie) of Summerville; sister, Sharon Allen (Al) of Bluffton, SC; two children, Dani Medlin and her husband "D" of CA and Ricky Lane (Chellene) of Clarksville, TN, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 12, 2008 at 4 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 until the hour of service on Friday. Burial will be private. SUTTON, Samuel Shelley, CPO, USN, Ret., passed away on Sunday December 7, 2008. Chief Sutton was born February 18, 1929, in Albany, GA, son of the late Harrison Eugene Sutton and Elizabeth Polson Sutton. He received an Associate's Degree from Trident Technical College in Criminal Justice.. After his retirement from the US Navy, he became employed with the State Ports Authority where he retired in 1988. He was also the narrator for The Clamagore Submarine at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, SC. He received several medals from the military, such as the World War II Victory Medal, the Presidential Testimonial Letter, Honorable Discharge Button, Honorable Discharge Emblem, Honorable Discharge Certificate, Statement of Service and Certificate of Satisfactory Service. He also received four Good Conduct Awards and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Award. He was an active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church where he was part of the evangelical team and served as both an usher and greeter. He enjoyed the beach and was an avid gardener. Surviving are his two daughters, Angela Sutton Bragg and her husband, Jim of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Shelley Massalon and her husband, Jamie of Charleston, SC; and two grandchildren, Jackson James Massalon and Trevor Sutton Bragg; his three sisters, Eileen Sutton Becker of Athens, GA, Bettye Gifford, of Warner Robins, GA and Penelope Hudson of Florence, SC; three brothers, Robert Sutton of Amarillo, TX, Larry Sutton of West Palm Beach, FL and James Sutton of Texas, He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty five years, Gloria Carswell Sutton and two brothers, Harold Sutton and Charles Sutton. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock. The funeral service will be Friday, December 12, 2008 in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 300 Palm Blvd., Isle of Palms, SC at two o'clock. EGGLESTON, Richard E., 98, passed away on December 8, 2008. He was born on October 4, 1910 in Portland, Oregon, but was raised in Topeka, Kansas. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1928 and served until 1931 on the USS Holland, Argonne, California and the V-2 class submarine. He often said that he joined the Navy to play baseball and that's what he did. After being discharged, he continued to play semi-pro baseball with the House of David. During World War II he again served the Navy, working as a machinist in the Puget Sound Navy Yard. After the War, he continued his machinist career, working for several companies and retired from Cameron Iron Works in 1975. Richard loved music and had a number of copyrights on songs that he wrote both the music and lyrics for. After retirement, he continued to pursue his music, worked in his large garden, played golf and enjoyed his leisure time to the fullest. Richard was predeceased by his parents, George and Mary Eggleston; brothers, George and Herbert Eggleston; sister, Clara Eggleston Hammond; daughter, Yvonne Eggleston Jungwirth; and grandson, Reed Jungwirth. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Curtis Eggleston; daughter, Sharron Tomlin and husband Dalton; his grandchildren, Damon Tomlin, Shelly Howard, Mark Jungwirth, Mary Redman, Janne Schumann, Juli Jungwirth, Alisa Cherry, and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family would especially like to thank his caregivers at Garden Terrace and particularly Myrna Serna for their kindness over the last few years. There will be a visitation on Friday, December 12, 2008, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at SouthPark Funeral Home & Cemetery, 1310 N. Main, Pearland, TX with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to a charity of your choice.

Douglas) Gray and Mary Keller; former wife of 40 years Elizabeth Hayes; devoted grandfather of David, Brian, Caris and Amy Cole, Christopher, William and Andrew Curtis, Emma, Jeremy and Allyson Gray and Simon and Matthew Keller; son of the late George and Adelaide Cullen Hayes; cherished friend of Maureen Barnicle. Graduate of US Naval Academy 1958. Served as a Submariner, Naval intelligence and was Naval Attache in Oslo Norway from 1979 to 1981. Bill retired as Director of Perry Technologies (Lockheed Martin) in 2006. Visitation Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson Bassi Funeral Home, 6938 W. North Ave., Chicago. Friday family and friends please meet 10:15 a.m. at St. John Cantius Church, 825 N. Carpenter, Chicago for 10:30 a.m. Latin Mass. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
