At random: The USS SKIPJACK was the first submarine designed from the keel up for top underwater performance using nuclear power. An earlier SKIPJACK was the first U.S. submarine to cross the Atlantic ocean under her own power (Newport, Rhode Island to Ponta Delgada, Azores, in 1917).

Subject: Christmas Party

Today is the Mid-Atlantic Base Christmas Party. We will honor those that have gone before us and the WWll members of the base. Gonna have good food, good music and a good time.

Our guests of honor will include Fern Wagner, CO of the USSVI Reading Base and his wife Sara. Our PNC Tom Conlon, and his wife Gina. Tom will be administering the oath of office to our CO Ron Olson, for another term as CO and myself for another hitch as secretary.
