At random: Dollar for dollar and man for man, the submarine is the country's most economical weapon. Comprising only 1.6 percent of the Navy's World War II personnel, the submarine service accounted for 55 percent of all enemy shipping destroyed.

I hope you all had a great Holiday Season (Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year’s, Kwanza, etc.).

The January – February 2009 issue of the Dolphin Brotherhood has been posted on the Seattle Base website.

This issue has pictures from the Auburn Veterans Day parade, a recap of our tour of the Bangor Submarine Base, and a couple Christmas related articles; along with the usual base news and interesting articles.

The direct link to the newsletter is:

The mailed copies will go out later this week.

I hope you all enjoy it.

You can find archived copies of the Seattle Base newsletter at:

Dave. As usual, "Dolphins" is well done. Wish other sub vet bases would publish their newsletter links.

And thanks for publishing my "Deep Down Christmas" submarine story. Am sure it will please these quoted submariners -- John Ackerman, Ron Halvorson, Mark Codding and Larry Emmons.

Your Santa photos played well with the story.
