At random: "Submariners are a special brotherhood, either all come to the surface or no one does. On a submarine, the phrase all for one and one for all is not just a slogan, but reality.” -- VADM Rudolf Golosov of the Russian Navy

Great for him. There ought to be more like him. A great big round of aplause to the Canadian Troops doing an "Eyes Right" for him.

The wee lad looked a little like "hairball" do you think our Newfie is having a second childhood?

What a cutie! What's with the left foot stomp?

I hope he never has to go into the service, but what a wonderful patriotic gesture he gives the troops. I expected them to salute back.

If you watch closely the commander out in front salutes and orders "eyes right". You normally don't salute in marching formation. There are exceptions.

Cora, the foot stomp is their way of going into the evolution of "Attention".

Ric I beg to differ in Commonwealth Forces ie those born of mother England it is standard to salute during an eyes right so this was correctly done and good on them it would have made his day.

Cora the foot stamp is also the correct way a lot of army forces around the world to come to attention so this was also correctly done and well done at that.

Pod. you would know better than I on this point. But, in the video. The troop didn't salute only the the leader out in front returned the salute.

I did say there were exceptions and I seem to remember from 45 years past that we did salute in marching formation someplace in bootcamp but can't remember the circumstances.

We must have done away with the foot stomp the same time we got rid of all the unneeded letters in words.. :-)

I digging back into the old memory banks now so bear with me. Back in the winter of '61 I was Recruit CPO in Boot Camp Glakes. When we marched in a "pass of review" and did an "eyes right" the only one that saluted was the RCPO with the saber and the Company Guidon lowered the guidon to paralell with the ground near waist high. The grunts in the ranks just turned their heads to the right except for the squad on the outside right.
How's that for memory?

Yep Ric again correct only the Squad commander and 2 IC salute the body of troops only eyes right/left with only the front man of in this case the right column keeping his eyes ahead.
