The neckerchief is multidimensional. It can be used as intended as part of the dress canvas. It can hold spare change. It can get you a foot in the door with some women. It can be used as a napkin in an emergency. It is one of the few reminders of our service time that actually fits today. Sorry as I know you're being serious but I couldn't resist. |

The neckerchiefs that are sold today in the NEX are not of the same quality that we got when we served, a shipmate of mine picked one up for the Torsk 2 weeks ago and instead of that nice silky feel that it used to have it was like feeling sand paper and it actually looked smaller the we all remembered and the only way that they are sold now is pre-rolled. |

Did ya know the older ones had three of four rows of stiching around the edges. The newer ones don't.
Also a WWII sailor I knew once told how having the spare change in the neckerchief once protected him from some guys who tried to rob him and his shipmate. Seems it packed a wallop when swung.
