this morning, after getting some blood work done. He had just had his eye removed after carrying around a piece of steel that he got in his eye during WWII. He has been blind in the eye since and it was removed and he is waiting for his new 'eye' and he can't wait to get it. He says he was lucky since the muscles and nerves were still good  His brother-in-law lost his leg in Germany and at times still feels like the toes on his lost leg were itching and needed to be scratched. I thanked him and his brother-in-law for their service and thought as I got into my car, that no matter what happens to you in your lifetime, you can always learn to live with it and find a bright side.
