PORTER, James Edwin, 80, Saginaw, Michigan, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009. James was born September 13, 1928 in Bluffton, Illinois to Russell and Mildred (Wolcott) Porter. Jim received his bachelors degree in social work from the University of Michigan and specialized in social work. He later was a school social worker from June 1953 to June 1990. Jim was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He had served his country in the U.S. Navy in the pacific with submarine duty from 1946 to 1948. Jim was an accomplished short wave radio operator and member of the American Radio Relay League. Surviving are his son, William Porter; and his daughter, Mary Jane (Karl) Linden. A private interment has taken place at Oakwood Cemetery in Saginaw. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Billy Graham Ministries, One Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201
