BENDALL, Jr., Alvin M., 92, died Monday, March 16th after a brief illness. Born in Houston in 1916, he graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1934. “Buck” served in the US Navy submarine service during World War II and afterward worked at Humble/Exxon until retirement in 1981. He lived in Colorado Springs for 10 years before moving to Georgetown in 1996. He is survived by wife of 63 years, Beverly Rand Bendall; son, Randy (Betty); son, John; brother, Kent; grandsons, Jeffrey and Matthew; and great-grandson, Grover. His ashes will be interred and a memorial service held at 2:00 p.m. on March 23 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery on Highway 195 in Killeen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.mem.com

COUTS, Luther Duane, 82 passed away of natural causes March 15, 2009 while visiting his beloved grandson and wife in San Diego. Duane was born on April 12, 1926 in South Gate, CA. He attended school in Southern California. He leaves the love of his life Karen, daughter Rebecca Frerichs, daughter Lorelei Martineau and husband David, grandson Luther Duane Couts and wife Cindy, granddaughter Julia and many nieces, nephews and their families as well as brother-in-law Dale Washburn and wife Dorothy. Duane was predeceased by his parents Ruth and Charles Couts, brother Raymond and sister Joanne. He served in World War II in the Naval Submarine Service. Shortly after the war he got his pilot's license and spent many happy hours airborne. He moved to Redding in 1959 where he was self-employed. He belonged to Redding Trade Club, Elks Lodge No. 1073, the Redding Traildusters and Masonic Lodge No. 2. Duane's joy in life were his family and friends. He loved traveling and meeting new people. He never knew a stranger. Services will be held at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel 2655 Eureka Way on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 2 p.m. Ann Muir of the Pilgrim Congregational Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Sharp Healthcare Foundation - Sharp Chula Vista ICU 8695 Spectrum Center Drive, San Diego, CA 92123 or a favorite charity.

FISK, William Arthur, 88, died peacefully at home in El Dorado Hills, Calif., on March 16, 2009. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Ruby L. Fisk; his loving sister Margery Munro of Lake Charles, La.; his adoring granddaughters Deena Peralta of Tracy, Calif., and Audra Cabral of Escalon, Calif.; and his admiring great-grandchildren Ronee Peralta, Taylor Peralta, Jordan Ramerez and Grable Ramerez. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Gloria Fisk, his cherished daughter Cheryl Fisk, and his loving brother Ivan. Bill was born in Elyria, Ohio, in 1920 but was raised in Lake Charles, La., until he joined the Navy in 1939 at the age of 18 where he served until 1962. During World War II he served in the Pacific war zone. He was aboard the famous submarine, U.S.S. Pampanito, on September 15, 1944, when he participated in the rescue of 73 prisoners of war. Thereafter, he was among those rescuers who received a presidential citation for their bravery. As a CPO on the Pampanito and other submarines, Bill had a positive influence on the lives of many young men who passed under his command over the years. He become a member of U.S. Submarine Veterans Holland Club in 2008. An avid sportsman, he loved boating and hunting and was an award-winning dog trainer. After retirement from the Navy, he was a Game Warden for some years and was also successful in various small businesses. He spent his later years tending to his garden of fruit trees, peppers and first-rate tomatoes. He was a man of great integrity true to his word, forever maintaining his steadfast devotion to his country, the flag, freedom and democracy. He continued to be inspiring to all who knew him and he will be greatly missed. Friends are welcome to attend funeral services on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN MORTUARY, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, Calif., (916) 732-2020. Military graveside service to follow in SIERRA HILLS MEMORIAL PARK. Visitation hours also on Tuesday starting at 10:00 a.m. up until service time.

TRENARY, William "Bill" Wesley, 62, passed away on Friday March 20, 2009 in his hometown of Deep River, CT. Bill died at home surrounded by his family after a long 2-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill was born on May 5, 1946 in Youngstown, OH to James and Helen (Aldom) Trenary. He attended Youngstown State and Kent State Universities in Ohio before being drafted. He chose to enlist in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear power plant operator on a nuclear submarine from 1967 to 1973. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Award. On July 28, 1973 in Plantsville Bill married his best friend JoAnn Marie Kupcho. He worked as an Electrical Engineering Technician for many years. His most recent employment was as a Retail Manager at the Westbrook and Clinton Outlets. He really enjoyed working with the people there. Bill's witty sense of humor and kind smile helped him make friends easily and he thoroughly enjoyed talking with people. He had many hobbies throughout his life, including reading, guitar, sports car races, UCONN women's basketball, frisbee, photography, video editing, and was a member of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). He had a fondness for all things in nature and was an avid hummingbird enthusiast and had a keen interest in Native American Culture. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Trenary, of almost 36 years; his daughters Jennifer (Joseph) Malcarne of Staatsburg, NY and Suzanne (Joshua) Griffin of Windsor; his grandchildren Caleb, Noah, Megan, Leah, and Maya Malcarne and Benjamin and Nathaniel Griffin; his sister Karen (Hendal) Price of Greensboro, NC; brother James Richard Trenary (Sharon) of Canfield, OH and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Lorraine Hall. He also leaves behind his beloved feline companions, Delilah, Patty, Hailey, and Bailey. Bill and his family are very grateful for the staff at the Yale Cancer Center for all their hard work and care. "I may not always be right, but I am never wrong." – saying on one of Bill's t-shirts. We love you and miss you Dad, Grandpa, brother and treasured husband!
