Plankowner Posts: 9165 Location: Upper lefthand corner of the map. | Subject: Another for John's Battleflag collection John, this is from my Seadragon page. The credit should accompany the image since I got it from the daughter of one of the men in the photo.  O.V. Johnson (right) and topside watch. Photo seems to be post WW II. "Kills" and battle ribbons have been painted on the conning tower as well as the number of war patrols the submarine conducted. Twelve war patrols! Photo courtesy of Barbara Johnson, O.V. Johnson's' daughter Also of note. For years there has been a photo of a chief holding a Thompson machine gun in the torpedo room of the S-44 labeled as being O.V. Johnson. There was only one O.V. Johnson in submarines in WW II and his daughter states that it isn't him in that photo, he never wore a beard. It is in fact Harold Arvid Stromsoe chief Torpedoman who went down with the S-44. Also O.V. Johnson never made chief. | ||
