BUTLER, Thomas H., 84, passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2009. Tom was born on June 29, 1924, in New York City. Tom served in the US Navy Submarine Service during WWII. He graduated from Fordham University in 1949 and enjoyed a successful career in the petro-chemical Industry. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold; son, Thomas H. Butler, Jr., and grandson, Nic Bartoli. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Veronica V. Butler; daughter-in-law, Cathy Butler; daughter, Roni Sewell (Jerry); son, David (Cindy); daughter, Mary Anne Barrilleaux (Barry); daughter,Vicky Burg (John); son, Chris (Erin); 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Conroe, TX. Visitation will be 5 to 8 pm, Thursday, April 2nd at Metcalf Funeral Home, Conroe, Texas, with a Rosary beginning at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am Friday, April 3rd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 109 N. Frazier, Conroe, TX. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, TX.

Served in seven submarines including nuclear attack USS Archerfish (SSN 678) and Submarine Squadron Seven in Hawaii; Program Manager of Nuclear Propulsion Program and Submarine Detailer; Chief, Strategic Command and Control Division for Chairman of The Joint Chief''s of Staff.
