He is a former CO of Thresher according to the video.

I think it reads that he was a former Captain ON the Thresher. He probably attained the rank of CAPT, after serving on Thresher.

Thresher only had two CO's AFAIK...Dean Axene, and J.W. Harvey.

I have a Thresher Commissioning booklet and he is listed as a LT. John E. McNish, Damage Control Assistant. Axene was the CO.
