BROWN, Dave, 80, a long time resident of Ramona and Poway, passed away on March 27, 2009, in Tehachapi, California. He was born in Montello, Nevada, on August 8, 1928, to Marion and Thelma Brown. Dave joined the United States Navy in 1946 and retired in 1966 as a Chief Petty Officer. His entire naval career was in the Submarine Service and he was a proud member of the Sub Vets of America. Dave was most proud of his association with the various Masonic Associations. Dave Brown was Past Master and Life Member of Santa Maria Lodge #580, Free and Accepted Masons in Ramona, CA, a member of the Scottish Rite of San Diego, and the Al Bahr Shrine Temple. In 1988, the Grand Lodge of California awarded Dave the prestigious "Hiram Award" for his dedicated service to Santa Maria Lodge and Free Masonry. He will always be remembered as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who served his Country and Community with pride and distinction as a Submariner and Mason. Dave was a Past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Poway. He loved to gather with his fellow veterans to remember their service during war and peace. Dave Brown was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife, Helena Brown. He is survived by his sons, David (Lynnette) Brown, Darrel (Deanna) Brown and Dennis (Tammy) Brown; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He will be laid to rest on Friday, April 10, 2009, at 11:30 am, at the Ramona Nuevo Memory Gardens, 523 Ash Street, Ramona, California.

KENNEDY, Jr., Thomas M., 51, of Londonderry, NH died Saturday, April 4, 2009, in a skiing accident at Alta Ski Area in Utah. He was born in Brighton, Mass., son of Thomas M. Kennedy, M.D. and Patricia (O'Reilly) Kennedy, of Meriden. He grew up in Meriden and was a graduate of Xavier High School and Northeastern University. Tom served in the U.S. Navy, as a submariner on a nuclear sub. He worked for Verizon for almost 22 years and was an active member of the IBEW union, including Local No. 2222 in Hyde Park, Mass. and Local No. 2321 in Dracut, Mass. Recently he ran for state representative for the Londonderry/Auburn District as a Democrat. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Gail; two sons, John and Kevin; and three daughters, Emily, Hannah and Brigid of Londonderry, N.H. He is also survived by siblings, Maura J. Kennedy-Staudinger, M.D., of Birmingham, Ala., Brian M. Kennedy, of Sacramento, Calif., Teresa Gagnon, of Shelton, Michael Kennedy, of Rockaway Park, N.Y., Peggy Benjamin, of Natick, Mass., Katherine Curtin, of Wrentham, Mass., and Daniel Kennedy, of New Britain. He is also survived by 23 nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tom loved all things Irish. Among his many climbing accomplishments, one of the proudest moments was his climb atop Mount Brandon in County Kerry, Ireland. As an avid outdoorsman, nature commanded his love, interest, and respect, all of which live on in his children. He was an environmentalist, political activist, unionist, and big Red Sox fan. Most of all, Tom was a man who understood the importance of being at every family event and was a devoted husband and father. Calling hours are Monday, April 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Peabody Funeral Homes, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, N.H. KUHN, M. George, died in Sacramento, CA April 4, 2009. George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia Kuhn, son Gary Kuhn of Huntington Beach, CA; daughter Georgiana of Folsom, CA and daughter Gwen Edelstien of Gold River, CA. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving as a Torpedoman aboard the submarines Plunger, Drum, Guardfish, Scamp and Quillback. George had served in many elected offices within the U.S. Submarine Veterans, WWII : Chapter President, CA State Commander, and SW Regional Director. He also served as Chairman of the outstanding 1993 US Submarine Veterans, WWII National Convention at the Disney Hotel in Anaheim CA. He was a shipmate and a friend, and he will be sincerely missed.
