At random: The first Japanese prisoner of war captured by the Americans was Kazuo Sakamaki, an ensign in the Imperial Japanese Navy. He was captured on the morning of December 7, 1941. Sakamaki had set an explosive charge to destroy his disabled submarine, which had been trapped on Waimanalo Beach. When the explosives failed to go off, he swam to the bottom of the submarine to investigate the cause of the failure and became unconscious due to a lack of oxygen. Sakamaki was found by a Hawaiian soldier, David Akui, and was taken into military custody. When he awoke, he found himself in a hospital under American armed guard. After the war he returned to Japan and found work with the Toyota Motor Corporation before retiring in 1987. Sakamaki died on November 29, 1999, aged 81.

Subject: Going to a Baseball Game....

Tomorrow we go to Wrigley Field to see the Chicago Cubs play the Colorado Rockies.....my first, and possibly last, Major League Baseball game. Looking forward to it, considering I am not a baseball fan, it should be 'fun'.

Still, I don't understand why the fielders cheat by wearing a glove.

"Catch it with your bare hands" I say! for those wondering what I am on about, watch a game of cricket and then you will understand.

OK, as long as you're in Chicago, you have to go to Billy Goats!

Someone call Wrigley Field and have them lay in some extra stores. No worries on the beer. I'm sure they have 2 cans they can spare. Sorry mate, I couldn't resist.

Whalen is right! Don't miss this one - an easy bus 8 minute ride from Wrigley Field.

Make that the Original Billy Goats, home of SNL's cheezeboiger! cheezeboiger! on lower Hubbard off Rush - literally in view of my 47th floor apartment at 405 N. Wabash some years back.

Just look for the Wrigley Buildings (yes, there are 2 of 'em side-by-side at the Chicago River and N. Michigan Ave.) and find the stairwell going down off N. Michigan Avenue just north of the northern Wrigley building or you can also take the stairwell on the southwest corner of that same building going down onto N. Rush St. Can't miss!

Only a hockey fan would change the punchline of that very old joke.

I hope you went with people that know the area.  I would have recommended you go to Slugger's about a block away.  Upstairs you can shoot baskets and they have a hardball and softball pitching machines.  Either every third or fourth bottled beer is on the house.

I hope you had a Chicago Dog outside the stadium or went to the famous dog houses.
