At random: ENS Sam Hunter, the first submarine casualty of WWII on Dec. 8, 1941. He was attached to Sea Dragon moored next to Sealion. He was killed by shrapnel from the first bomb hit on Sealion penetrating the conning tower of Sea Dragon. The second hit killed 4 men in Sealions Engineroom.
I knew it was going to be a strange day....

...just had a call from Denisse. Her brother is in the hospital. Not expected to last too many more hours. Has not regained consciousness since he was found in his truck lastnight with no or little pulse.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Terry and I met Dennise at the Bash and liked her immediately. Please convey our sympathy to her and that we will keep her brother in our prayers.

..well, I just talked with Denisse and her brother is brain dead and can't breath on his own. They are keeping him alive to harvest organs, probably tomorrow. Found out he was/is a vet, US Army, and so will probably get buried at Tahoma National Cemetery. The family is contacting the VA and Tahoma tomorrow to see about arrangements. The good thing he had managed to put things back together and heal some wounds with family and friends and his daughter before this happened.

Please pass my condolences to Denisse and family.  We all met and spent time together at Hagarstown in '97.
