At random: Long considered a versatile and deadly instrument of war, the submarine has broadened her capabilities with the adoption of nuclear power. Today the submarine serves as a ballistic missile platform, early warning station, killer of surface and underwater vessels, scout, coastal raider troop transport, supply ship, mine layer, and seaplane tender.

Dad,
Every year, your birthday reminds me
how grateful I am that you are my father.
With all that’s going on in the world today,
I’m thankful I get to watch you,
to look up to you, being an example of a good man.
What a privilege it is to observe your strength,
your competence, and your kindness.
I am so blessed to be under your wing,
your protection, your care,
learning important life lessons from you.
If all fathers were like you,
the world would be a very different
and much better place.
Happy Birthday, Dad,
Ric

You don't often get the opportunity to wish Happy Birthday to someone who signed your qual card 48 years ago, but I can!

Happy Birthday Roy!

(many more to you and June)

Well, now that the old grizzly sparktrician has kicked in, I suppose that it's time to close out this string?

Without any reservations, I've got to say that it's great to be on this side of the dirt! The accolades from our daughter are always rewarding. The rapid response from THE SWINE OF THE HIGHEST ORDER was most pleasant to say the least. Thanks shipmates and gals. Yes Cora, I'm street legal now (76). And thanks Tom for your recognition too.

I spent most of the day at the VA Fort Worth Outpatient Clinic trying to get replacements for my antique 12 year old service connected hearing aids (analog). Making progress, but it's slow. I have a 'hearing test' scheduled for next Monday. I had not been to this clinic in several years. I was amazed at the wall-to-wall number of clients waiting for service! Service was efficient and courteous but they are overloaded. Circled for about fifteen minutes waiting for someone to leave to find a parking spot within a two block radius. Standing room only in the clinic waiting areas.

During their 'lunch break', I went to the package store at NAS Ft Worth and acquired a 1.75 liter jug of The Famous Grouse. I've made a respectable dent in it this evening!

So, with that, I'm calling it a wrap and going to find my fart sack...

ROY It's a pretty good day when those who love and respect you for who you are pretty much sum's it up! You are one tough act to follow but follow we try. My mother had to remind me that I was the only present she received on mothers day in 1950 which makes you and I two taurus' that have a tendency to never comprimice when you believe you are right and to be the first to appologize when proven different. I am very proud to say that I am in the same club as you are senor' EXCEPT having qualified silver and GOLD dolphins sets you and a very select few of thers in that most pretigious club.
My wish back to you is my personal prayers that you and June are able to experience many many more together. And it was definitely absolutely my privilege to have crossed paths with you via the BBS's and especially at Cowboys bash at the ranch.
In all the pictures I've seen you in you never looked the size of the Jolly Green Giant!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROY!
