My nephew Brent HMC is now the senior Corpsman on the USS Hue CG 66 ( I think thats the number)
Im told they are the largest ships that dont carry a MD. So he is it.
2 tours with the Marines in Iraq.
Im proud of him.

Strange how the CG is so heavily involved in the war now, even though they are not in Department of Defence. From what little I hear, they are doing hard time now, just as all other services are doing. I hope we can take care of business and get these insidious wars over!!!

Kind of ironic that we would have a Cruiser named after a Vietnamese City; I'll have to look that up and see how they selected that name.

Doesn't most Coast Guard vessels hull numbers start with a "W"?

If you are wondering about the Coast Guard's prior war time involvement read about their time in the shallow Waters of Viet Nam. They did not get much press, as with others of us, but they did some heavy duty time there.

One of their cutters got hit heavily with friendly fire one evening from some wayward Air Force planes.

USS Hue is the only ship named for a Vietnam battle.

When Brent started working toward being an Independant Corpsman I had hoped he would go into subs. He has the ability and could handle sub duty. But things prevented it out of his control. Being with the Marines he saved mens lives and that is whats important nothing else.

Here is to him and all those men like him that save lives on the boats and with the Marines.
