At random: Leonardo da Vinci, the Florentine Renaissance inventor and artist, developed plans for an underwater warship but kept them secret. He was afraid that it would make war even more frightful than it already was.

A story on TV shows how plastic waste is making it into a central area in the Atlantic where fish eat the stuff. We eat the fish. Different cancers and other bad ailments are related to the injestion of this stuff.

Remember the stories a few years ago about medical waste wahing up on beaches? It's a scary world out there!

Saw a story on TV about a month ago about a woman who decided to eat canned tuna fish every day. She wanted to see if the level of mercury in her body would be elevated and by how much. She was being checked by a doctor and had to stop the expiriment before her the scheduled date because her mercury level had reached a dangerous leve.

y'wall remember the Little Willie jokes from decades past?

Little Wille, from the mirror, licked the mecury all off
Thinking in his childish way it would cure his whooping cough.

Willie's mother at the funeral sadly said to Mrs Brown
Chilly day for little Willy when the mercury went down!

I've used the old telephone crank and occasional dynamite. The telephone crank is very eco-friendly and the dynamite only leaves a little bit of cardboard wrappings. Kind of rough on the seams of the boat though and if the water isn't deep, it tends to throw mud and other stuff into the air.
