I just learned that 2010 USS Flasher SSN 613 reunion will be in Seattle, (well, Tukwilla really). Good news for us west coasters.

Careful there now! There are at least 4 Flasher sailors on here and 3 of them are plank owners!

Weren't the Plank Owners issued trench coats when reporting aboard?

Nope. Foul weather working Jackets were the order of the day that cold and snowy October! Mine had "E-25" stenciled on the back of it. That meant I was the 5th enlisted man aboard. The Officer's jackets started with "O-1" and went as high as "O-20". Had that jacket for many years after I got out in '68, and then one day in the 1980'es somewhere as the cold weather was starting back up in the Cleveland area, I couldn't find it anywhere. Just because the zipper was broken (which didn't bother me) and it was "Looking a bit raggedy", my wife threw it out. I might have agreed with her about it's condition, and time to retire it, but I would have removed the Flasher Patch and my leather name and rating patch before it got trashed. They would have ended up on my "Navy Wall" here at home.
Oh yeah, keeping the theme of the last thread, the only trench coats I saw were on the detectives from Groton or New London Police Departments.
