Sadly we report the passing of our USS SEA ROBIN SHIPMATE Fred McGuire, TM1(SS) 1965-67.
Fred was a super shipmate who attended several of our reunions along with his wife Doreen. We learned recently that he was seriously ill but he made arrangements to attend our upcoming reunion in Charleston anyway. We will miss him.
Fred served on the following boats: SS-484 Odax TM2SS) 5/57 to 5/60 SS-482 Irex TM2(SS) 9/60 to 12/60 SS/SSR-312 Burrfish TM2(SS) 1/61 to 6/61 SS-485 Sirago TM1(SS) 7/61 to 8/63 SS-256 Hake TM1(SS) 8/63 to 7/65 SS-407 Sea Robin TM1(SS) 7/65 to 12/67

A sad post for sure. I served with Fred on Sirago. He was a great shipmate with a wonderful sense of humor. He and his wife attended many of our reunions and will be sorely missed.
Thanks for the notice Paul.

I received this note regarding services for our shipmate Fred McGuire.
I'mposting this in case there are any shipmates that served with Fred andare interested in participating in his final services:
ALL HANDS:
ATTENTION. The funeral for Fred McGuire is NOT TOMORROW. The funeral director gave me the wrong date. The funeral is next Thursday, June 18th. The time for the mass is 10:30am and we will be at the Oviedo (FL) Presbyterian Church as I said in my original e-mail. The only other new information I have is that they will begin at 10:00am with a service by the Elk's Lodge and then the Shriners. Those two services will take about 30 minutes total and the catholic mass will begin at 10:30am. Following the mass we will be going to Florida National Cemetery (BUSHNELL FL) for a graveside service at 2:00pm. The family is hosting a reception with food following the cemetery. They would like an idea of how many of us will be there. If you plan on going to Bushnell please let me know.
