We can never repay you for the sacrifices you made on this day 65 years ago on the beaches of Normandy.

They were forged on the anvil of the depression, case hardened on WPA projects, the CCC's.....they were sun baked men, toughened on the ends of shovels, axes, sledgehammers, pneumatic drills, dynamite detonating boxes and mortar trowels. They carried within them the American values of honest dealing, fairness, love of country, courage, and valued honor...values taught at American dinner tables. They were taught the rudementary components of teamwork on tens of thousands of playing fields throughout a country that valued clean living, sportsmanship and fair play. They didn't have to TORTURE people...our captured saw how we lived...who we were...what we believed in....In short, once they compared the way we operated compared to the valueless bastards they were working for, they helped us with actionable intelligence. ALL of our POW camps were open and above board, subject to random International Red Cross inspection at all times....we didn't beat people up, intentionally hummiliate folks or turn people under our stewardship, over to regimes that torture. And there was no whining. Whining was unmanly. That's why they became THE GREATEST GENERATION....and earned us, not one...but two UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDERS. Dammit, they WERE the GREATEST GENERATION.
