Wilhelm Bauer, a Bavarian inventor, took three musicians under the waters of Kronstadt Harbor in a submarine he had built, where they played appropriate music during the coronation. The music was distinctly heard on the surface.

Joseph Ralph RAMOS Sr., 83, went to be with the Lord, June 3, 2009. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Houston, Texas on March 19, 1926, to Allen and Melvina Ramos. He grew up in Houston and helped run the family business training and racing quarter horses with his father and brothers but his passion lied in automotive mechanics. After serving in the Navy on a submarine in the pacific during World War II, he met the love of his life, Willa Mae Prejean. They were married on June 12, 1948. They raised 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls. He worked for the United States Postal Service and served 30 years until his retirement in 1985 but loved to work on antique cars and attend Rod Runs. He touched many with his kind demeanor and never met a stranger. He loved to talk to people and tell stories about all his past experiences and the good "old days". He is loved and will be missed by many friends and especially by his family. He is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years; Willa Mae, his brother; Thomas Ramos, his 7 children; Joseph Ramos Jr., Rolland Ramos, Malvina Howard, Peter Ramos, Paul Ramos, Maria Jaskolka, and Rebecca Robinson as well as their spouses, 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and countless other family and friends. The viewing will be held on June 9, 2009 at 8 a.m. with the Mass following at 10 a.m. and the military burial thereafter at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 3730 FM 160 North, Raywood, Texas 77582.

COLLETTE, Richard O. Collette, 86, of 8 West Main Street, Rivercourt Residences, West Groton, died Friday, June 5, at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Mr. Collette was born in Fitchburg, on July 22, 1922, a son of the late Hector and Louise (Drinkwine) Collette, and had resided in Townsend for 60 years before moving to West Groton this year. Mr. Collette worked for many years as a salesman at the Bates Corrugated Box Company in Townsend retiring in 1974. Prior to that, he was the general manager at the former Fessenden Barrel Company in Townsend. He served his country in the US NAVY during WWII onboard the USS Gwin which was sunk in a night battle on July 13, 1943 which claimed half the men on board. He then served on a submarine until 1946. He was then called back to service during the Korean Conflict serving onboard the USS Benner. Mr. Collette grew up in West Fitchburg, graduating from Fitchburg High School in 1940, and later graduated from Babson College. He was a former member of the Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg, the Westminster Country Club, and the American Legion and VFW of Townsend. Mr. Collette served on the Board of Selectmen in Townsend for nine years. For 20 years, he served as a trustee at the former Fitchburg Savings Bank now known as Rollstone Bank and Trust. He was also a former board member of the Nashoba Community Hospital and the Townsend Historical Society. He also served as a Salvation Army Representative for the Town of Townsend, and was also a former member of the Industrial Development Committee of Townsend. Mr. Collette is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene M. (Richard) Collette of West Groton; three sons and a daughter-in-law, R. Lee Collette of Chelsea, Stephen J. Collette and his wife, Michelle of West Groton, and Peter A. Collette of Townsend; one sister, Rita C. McCann of Bennington, VT; and three grandchildren, Caryn L. Ines, Amy S. Collette, and Anna L. Collette; two great-grandchildren, Annalee Collette Adair, and Leah Collette Ines. Mr. Collette was the brother of the late L. Valerie Collette who died in 2001, and Paul H. Collette who died in 2008. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 9 at St. John's Church, One School Street, Townsend. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Townsend. Calling hours will held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 8 at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, Townsend. Please see www.andersonfuneral.com for additional information. Henry J. Zarzecki, 86, was born on August 17, 1922, in Milwaukee and passed away on May 6, 2009, in the state of Washington. Henry enlisted in the Navy during WWII and served on the submarine USS Trout (SS-202). He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Pat, and his sisters Phillis, Lillian, Celine and Janet. He is survived by his daughters Susan and Janice, sisters Wanda and Irene, and brother Albin. Services were held May 11, 2009, at St. Hubert Catholic Church, in Washington State.

Terrill (Ben) Bedingfield, 73, "My True Love" passed away June 3, 2009, after a seven year battle with colon cancer. He was born January 12, 1936, in Eureka, Utah, the son of James F. Bedingfield and Beatrice Madeline Drussel. He married Arleen Zaring August 8, 1955, in American Falls, Idaho. He is survived by Arleen; daughter Mary Bedingfieldsmith (Scott); son John (Barbara); five grandchildren, Sean, Jessica, Kelli, Casey and Wesley; brothers K.C. (Ann) and Dana (Judy); sisters Carol Ann Lemke (Terry) and Marcia Hopkins and his faithful hunting companion and therapy dog, Allie. Ben served in the US Navy submarine service during the Korean Conflict. He was a licensed pilot and a master craftsman who could build or repair anything whether carpentry, electrical, plumbing or automotive. His expertise is showcased in such buildings as Mercy Hospital, Nampa, Idaho, College of Business Administration ISU, Pocatello, Idaho, Gore Library, Westminster College and the Institute of Religion at the U of U in Salt Lake City. He was a master of the practical joke. Although he claimed to be a "practicing curmudgeon" he touched many lives in unassuming ways. Ben served the Masonic bodies in numerous capacities - Past Master Bonneville Lodge No. 31 F&AM, Past Worthy Patron Bethsaida Chapter No. 22, O.E.S., Past Associate Grand Guardian International Order of Job's Daughters, and he was Utah's original Father Job. Ben's family wishes to thank caregivers Dr. Patricia Legant, Dr. Edward Hashimoto, and Community Nursing Service's Ganine, Bridget, Troy, Dave, and April. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Ben's life on Saturday, June 13th, at his home from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers share kindness with one another. BURZENSKI, Bruce Joseph, 45, passed away unexpectedly at Sutter General Hospital on May 23, 2009. He was born in San Francisco on January 17, 1964. He is survived by his mother, Jeannine, and by numerous cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. Burzenski. Bruce was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Service. He had worked for Intel Corporation at both their Santa Clara, California and Chandler, Arizona sites. Most recently Bruce was the bookkeeper at the Rancho Cordova Elks Lodge.A memorial service will be held for Bruce at the Rancho Cordova Elks Lodge on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.Memorial contributions for those who wish can be made in Bruce's name to the Rancho Cordova Elks Lodge No. 2484, 11440 Elks Circle, Rancho Cordova, CA 95742-7356.

McCommas, Tildon F. (Mac), 68, of 1 Elm Court in St. Peters, MO, formerly of Plainfield, CT died unexpectedly Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He was born July 5, 1941 in Excelsior Springs, MO. His parents were the late Ray F. McCommas and Mabel McCommas, of Branson, MO, who survives him. He was the brother of Dr. Donald Crowley and his wife Alice, also of Branson and their son Owen Crowley. Mr. McCommas was married May 28, 1977 to his wife Karen, who survives him. He is survived by his son, John McCommas and partner Julio Nieves of Willimantic, CT, and daughters Sheila Morgan and husband Scott, of Pittsfield, NH, Jennifer LeDuc and husband Richard of Putnam, CT, and Shelley Shabenas and husband James of Plainfield, CT. His greatest joys were his grandchildren, Adam Shabenas and wife Jade of Crestview, FL, Jacob, Zachary, and Nickolas Shabenas of Plainfield, CT, and his granddaughters, Madeline and Sophia LeDuc of Putnam, CT. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law Nancy Haberek and her husband Frank of Port Orange, FL, his sister-in-law, Cynthia Garrison, and brother-in-law, Alan Plue and their respective families. Mr. McCommas was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving mostly as a submariner. He graduated in 1969 from Eastern Connecticut State University, with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. In 1977 he co-founded Eastern Aquanalysis, an environmental laboratory, where he was the laboratory director. He retired in 1996. He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and loved watching college football games. His favorite vacations were taking cruises with his wife and family. Mr. McCommas was a past president of the Danielson Rotary Club, and in 1995 received Rotary's highest award, the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. Services: Following cremation, private arrangements will be made at the convenience of his family.
