At random: Insignia of the Navy's submarine service is a submarine flanked by two dolphins. Dolphins, or porpoises, the traditional attendants to Poseidon, Greek God of the Sea and patron deity of sailors, are symbolic of a calm sea, and are sometimes called the 'sailors' friend. In addition to the Dolphins, those World War II submariners who participated in successful combat patrols may wear the coveted Submarine Combat Insignia.

Actually, I loaded all (hopefully) of the British submarines into the database as of a few months ago.  I don't recall when I added the Aussie boats but thus far there are still less than 100 RAN boat sailors in the database.  Only 3 or 4 RN sailors have registered so if you happen to know/correspond with any, let them know that the database is set up for them now.

I added RAN and now, RN boats to the database only because to my knowledge, no other crew database is available to either online.  Anywho... spread the word.  I'm grateful to our resident Oz sailors on the BBS and it would be interesting to have a few Brit sailors as well.

Ric, a few weeks ago a bunch of us emailed them and are still waiting on a response. Seems they are a hard group to get in touch with.
