Herman Dean "Bud" Ulrich, 83, passed away Monday June 15, 2009 due to multiple complications from a stroke. Bud was born March 22, 1926 in Lamar, Missouri to Herman Henry and Eva Mae Jones Ulrich. He was raised in Salt Lake City and attended Granite High School. After High School, he went directly into the Navy where he was a veteran of the Second World War serving his country as a submarine torpedoman. While in the service Bud married his sweetheart, Marie Allen, in 1944 at Memory Grove in Salt Lake City. They were happily married for 65 years. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Bud was very successful and excelled in anything he was involved with. He was tenacious and an extremely hard worker. He worked for International Harvester, was a Regional manager for Curtis Industries, owner of Buds Hardware and Bud's Key & Supply. Anyone who worked with Bud loved and admired him; especially his own family. Bud loved the Lord and was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully. He was always helping and serving people. He is survived by his wife, Marie and his two sons: Stephen (Debra) Ulrich, Mark (Laura) Ulrich, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grand-children. Preceded in death by Robyn Lever (daughter), Norma Harker (sister), Gary Ulrich (brother) and his parents. Viewing will be held at East Millcreek 15th Ward House located at 3750 So. Hillside Ln. (2600 E.) from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, and one hour prior to the funeral service held on June 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Wasatch Lawn Cemetery. Douglas Reynolds Kindred, 73, of Lilly Lane, Paris, KY, husband of Janet Lynne Kindred, passed away peacefully in his home Sat, June 13, 2009. He was born Feb 5, 1936 in Middletown, OH, son of the late Clyde Kindred and Adelaide Kindred House. Doug was a retired Freight Relocation Specialist (truck driver) with Roeder Cartage and was a veteran of the United States Navy from April 1953 to November 1961. He served as a radio and sonar repairman on a destroyer, an aircraft carrier, and a GATO class submarine during the Korean War. He is survived by a son, Dwayne Andrew (Kim) Kindred; daughter, Danielle Kindred; stepdaughter, Kelley Newkirk; and stepson, Dustin Purcell. Doug had one brother, Ricky Lane Kindred of Winchester, KY and two sisters, Jean (Elmer) Crouch of Winchester, KY and Marcia ("Dickie") Willoughby of Clay City, KY. He has 10 grandchildren, Courtney (Ryan) Spradling, Kyle Kindred, Dillon and Jess Phillips, Jenna Mammen, Shea Smith, Kris, Randy and Jacob Foster and Lana Newkirk. Memorial services will be at 11am Thu, June 18, 2009 at Ruddles Mills Christian Church at 3804 Millersburg Ruddles Mills Road, Bourbon County, KY.

Gilbert C. Nowak, Sr., 74, went to be with the Lord, June 14, 2009. He was born to John and Hilda (Hanson) Nowak July 6, 1934 in Angelica, WI. He graduated from Oconto Falls High School in May of 1952 and joined the Navy in June of 1952. He was a submariner until May 1955. He went to work for North West Engineering, a crane manufacturing company in Sept. 1955. Between the Navy and his job he traveled 3/4 around the world. He loved working on anything mechanical from large cranes to small engines. He moved to 3 different states with his job and settled in Green Cove Springs in 1993. He worked for the crane division of MD Moody until May of 2002 when he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Judith (Elliott-Rowell), his children, Guy (Leslie), JoAnn (Craig) Fischer, Denver, CO, Gilbert, Jr., Tomah, WI, Brian, Oklahoma City, OK, Terri (Jay) Bartholomew, Milwaukee, WI , Becky (Rick) Weid, Pulaski, WI.; 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, June 18, 2009 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Reverend Herman Stahl and Reverend Tim Downing officiating.
