At random: USS R-6 was fitted the first prototype US submarine snorkel at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the closing months of the European part of WW II in April / May 1945 and successfully tested it off Fort Lauderdale, Fl. as the war against Japan ended in August 1945. The snorkel was removed from the USS R-6 and she was decommissioned and scrapped in September 1945.

Just got home from a quick detour through Surgery to get a brand new ankle fitted all done and home in 3 days, now for two weeks non weight bearing then four to six weeks learning how to walk again.

Pretty damn good technology nowdays with pain not getting above three on a scale of ten.

Good onya, Mate, we're glad it worked out. Heal well, my friend.
I hope you learned your lesson, so that, Alison won't have to kick the other one out from under you.

Great news, Pete!
I didn't know they could replace ankle parts. My wife has a bad ankle, but I think her knee is worse off. Ain't medical science great nowadays? Years ago we would just have to "grin and bear it!"
Now for the hard part ... doing what the physical terrorist tells ya!

Good news; wait until you try to go through an airport with all that new hardware. Mine sets all the bells and whistles off and all I have is a steel plate and 9 screws.
I hope your therapist is as good as mine was; I asked her if I could dance after I was done with therapy and she assured me I could. I told her that was great because I sure couldn't dance before I broke the leg.

Good on'ya POD!   It's amazing that ankle survived so many years given the number of times it was submerged in 3-meter-deep, high-grade bulls**t!  Enjoy the new life courtesy of modern science!
