Robert A. Fredricksen, LCDR, USN, Ret., 65, of Oswego, IL and formerly of Honolulu, HI, bravely lost his year long battle with lung cancer on June 15, 2009. Bob retired from the US Navy Submarine Service after 20 years of dedicated service and for the last 10 years he has been a senior engineer with Exelon Nuclear in Marseilles, IL. He was a member of MENSA and a life master bridge player. Bob is remembered by his wife, Donna; his children, Victoria and Timothy Fredricksen, both of Honolulu; his brother, Thomas (Marcy) Fredricksen of Wilmette, IL; his nephews, Conrad and Cooper Fredricksen; as well as a host of colleagues and great friends. A Celebration of Bob's life will be Monday, June 22, 2 p.m. at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home, corner of Rts 30 & 59, Plainfield. All are welcome to gather from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Per his wishes, Bob's cremated remains will be buried at sea under the direction of the US Navy. Memorials to the Navy Marines Corp Relief Society, 875 N. Randolph, Suite 225, Arlington, VA 22205 or the Heritage YMCA Group, PO Box 838, Naperville, IL 60566 are preferred. Addis T. Jones, 85, of Northfield, Korean War Veteran, U. S. Navy, Submariner and 1942 New Trier Graduate. Addis began his long and storied career as a Naval officer and 1947 graduate of the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. He served on the famous USS Wisconsin and on the diesel submarine USS Sea Leopard. He was President of a family owned construction company which built some of the country's most progressive large structures, including the modern Chicago landmark Lake Point Towers, the graceful control tower at O'Hare Airport and the Saturn V Assembly Building for Apollo spacecraft in Cape Canaveral, FL. He also had a lifelong passion for politics and investments. He took special pride for work on Goldwater, Rumsfeld, Reagan, and Bush campaigns. He also published a monthly investment newsletter for many years and developed complex investment strategies that brought him much satisfaction. Husband for 54 years of Ardelle, father of Scott (Linda) and Brant (Jeannette), Grandfather of 4.
