At random: During their wartime operations submarines have engaged in some unusual maritime actions. One undersea craft slugged it out with the infantry and field artillery while other submarines destroyed a zeppelin, a bus, and a railroad train.

Susie, our middle daughter has let us know she is carrying our first grandchild. Really looking forward to it and I am already looking back to the days when we were first blessed which Ginny, our first. We still have her crib but even though we have time to get ready, we've got to make the house "baby-friendly".

Thankfully, Susie lives close by so we'll be able to watch the baby grow!!!!!!!

Dave, a grandchild is a blessing beyond belief....Congrats! It's also nice that you will be close enough to watch it grow...

My wife and I are expecting our fourth grandchild and we are as excited about this one as we were for the first.

Stoops Old Friend...Sir, You are about to single up on one of the greatest of life's adventures. Grandchildren are as most accurately described by Joe Roche....They are a wonderful blessing. I was just visited by my oldest daughter Kris (The paratrooper major and her husband Sam who makes his living doing stuff he can't talk about...and little Solveig Elise)...Solveig Elise can take breast milk and turn it into the most disgusting stuff you can imagine...really stinky mustard looking diaper loads, closely resmbling the contents of a carbuncle lanced on an iguanna's butt. But, you can't look at them and not realize that they are one of the creator's masterworks. Congratulations. DEX

Congratulations, Dave, to you and the entire Clan, especially to Susie.
Dex, as usual, has written what I and I'm sure most would like to say. Being a Grandparent is a trip that just can not be discribed. You've got to live it! So, yeah Dave, get ready for your heart to expand beyond your imagination.

Oh yeah, forgot to add. You and the wayward so called "Richard Smith's" on this BBS will have to start cleaning up your acts. I know it will be a tough job, so, get busy and start by not wearing your grass skirt around the house and out in public. Ric wanted me to pass that on to you.

That's great news for you all....I am sure Terri is overjoyed.

Now you will be doing all those things that you never wanted to do with your own children, lol

I am hoping it is many years to go before I get the title of 'Grand Parent'!

Congratulations, Dave.

And what DEX said about the poop...  you know it's true cause you've been down that road before with Ginny and Susie. This time, though, you can hand the baby off to its parents and they'll deal with it!

hee hee hee...you are right Park....I guess that is the main advantage of grandparenthood.....send the kids home......not your problem anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But be sure you load them up with sugar just before the kids come to pick them up!

Congratulations to you and Terri. Besides sending them home you never have to change a diaper unless you want to. I have two grand daughters and it's fun watching them grow up. The trick is to not be critical of what your grown kids are doing with "their" kids. I wish mine weren't 100 miles away but it's better than the 1200 they were.

Nah----Santa Claus is much heavier than I! Plus I don't think I can convince my daughter to tell the kid that it is traditional to set out a plate of bratwurst and a pint of Scotch for Santa!

That's s-o-o-o exciting.

Yes, they come to visit; then when the visit's over, they go home with Mom and Dad.

You'll be a good grandpappy...I know.

It's an exciting time. Our son's wife will soon present to the world James Wm Carlson. We're in hot stand-by to run the 300 miles there to help for a few weeks (their first child, our first grandchild). Hope you're going to have as much fun as we've had and will have.

Congrats - grandkids are sweet - she is only 3 and she already comes to me for sympathy when mom and dad scold her.

Tomorrow she will have a little brother
