Richard H. Loring, 80, of East Sandwich, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2009. Dick was the owner of Wingscorton Farm in East Sandwich and the founder and former president of Acquacultural Research Corporation, aka Cultured Clam Corporation in East Dennis. He was a veteran of the Navy, Submarine Service, and served as an officer aboard the USS Grampus (SS-523). He is survived by his wife Sheila Weyers-Loring of East Sandwich; stepchildren Frederick Shaffer of Cincinnati, OH, Mitchell Horton of Juneau, AK, Cheryl Horton of Los Angeles, CA, Jonathan Weyers of San Luis Obispo, CA; daughter Dana Kaplan of Burlington, VT; and sister Eleanor Frank of Providence, RI. A reception will be held at the Nickerson~Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich, on Saturday, July 18, 2009, from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date. A memorial service in Dick's honor will be at a later date. William W. Kerr, 85, of Holland, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Bill was born in Toledo on March 19, 1924. Bill was a Navy submarine veteran of WWII [Flounder (SS-251)] and the Korean War [Medregal (SS-480)]. He was employed at Ohio Bell and retired after 36 years. Bill was an active member of the Holland community. He served as a volunteer fireman, treasurer of the original Strawberry Festival, council member and Springfield School bus driver. Bill was also a 50 year member of Northern Light Masonic Lodge # 40 and the Telephone Pioneers of America. William is survived by Joyce, his loving wife of 59 years; daughters, Deb (Bill) Paben and Sue Kerner; grandchildren, Carrie (USN) and Chad Paben, and Ryan and Derek Kerner (USA) and close family friend, Cindy Hall. A Memorial Service will be held at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee on Sunday, July 19, 2009, at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E.
