Donald G. O'Malley died peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Donald served in World War II in the Pacific submarine fleet where he served aboard the USS Flounder (SS-251). As one of the original residents of Hoffman Estates, Donald and his wife, Anna, lovingly raised 13 children. Donald will be greatly missed by his wife, Anna, of nearly 63 years; 13 children, Patrick (Jan) O'Malley, Michael (Kathy) O'Malley, John (Donna) O'Malley, Dennis (Loretta) O'Malley, Gerard (Debbie) O'Malley, Mary (Robert) Horn, Maureen (Kenneth) Witte, Edward O'Malley, Daniel (Jill) O'Malley, Joseph (Jane) O'Malley, Donna (Donald) Marshall, Elisabeth (Paul) Johnson and Laurie O'Malley; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Kathleen; brother, Dale; and many others. While raising his children, Donald worked hard at his carpet installation business in Elk Grove Village for many years. During those years he enjoyed watching his children participate in sports. In recent years Donald enjoyed being a Cubs fan, playing cribbage and sharing stories about his life with his family. In lieu of flowers, Donald and Anna request donations be made to their youngest daughter, to the 'Laurie K. O'Malley Special Needs Trust' by visiting any local Harris Bank Branch.

Wendell Everett Dimick, 84, Inverness, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 surrounded by his loving family and Hospice of Citrus County. Wendell was born March 6, 1925 in Hardwick, Vermont to the late Ernest and Ruth (Cochran) Dimick and came to this area in 1980 from East Hardwick, VT. He served our country in the United States Navy on submarine duty. Wendell was a mail carrier in the State of Vermont. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Inverness. His survivors include his wife of 53 years, Norma Dimick, Inverness, two sons, Jon Dimick, Napanoch, NY and Barry and wife Melody Dimick, Deland, FL, three daughters, Judy and husband Clay McClamrock, Mocksville, NC, Donna and husband Bill Guevremont, Richland, MO, Lisa and husband Jerry Gilbert, Inverness, FL, two brothers, Pete and wife Helen Dimick, East Hardwick, VT and Ronnie and wife Bobbi Dimick, Brooksville, FL, his sister Karlene Dixon, NJ, ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is in charge of private cremation arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Wendell's name are requested to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464.


Frank "Brad" Taft - (Hartford Courant)
Frank "Brad" Taft, 67, passed away at the Summit of Plantsville after a long illness. He was the husband of Carol (Kompanik) Taft. Born February 19, 1942, in Chicago, IL, Brad grew up in Odessa, TX. He moved to New England in the 60's where he was enlisted in the Navy from 1963 to 1965 and served on the USS Cobbler (SS-344) stationed at the US Naval Submarine Base located in Groton. Brad was retired from the Hartford where he worked as a systems analyst. He was an avid golfer and science fiction reader. He enjoyed fishing and camping near the ocean with family and friends. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Melanie Ann Taft of Concord, NC; and a sister, Patty Jordan of Houston, TX. A family memorial service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The American Cancer Society, Attn: Research Department, P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450.
