Charles Douglas Partin, CPO, USN, Ret., 64, entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 18, 2009. Doug was born March 16, 1945 in West Frankfurt, IL, the son of Riley B. Partin and Geraldine Smith Partin Wyatt. He was a graduate of Hurst-Bush High School and Trident Technical College. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer, Submarine Fleet, United States Navy. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Surviving are his wife, Glenna (Bonnie) Bates Partin of Charleston, SC; two daughters Kelly S. Fleming (Jason) of Goose Creek, SC and Lindsay M. Partin of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren Caitlyn Fleming and Nicholas Fleming; one brother Brian Wyatt of Prescott, AZ. The family will receive friends Tuesday at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy., between five and seven. Funeral services will be held in Lutheran Church Of The Redeemer, Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at two o'clock. Burial to follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Assoc, 29 Leinbach Dr., Ste. D5, Charleston, SC 29407 and or Lutheran Church Of The Redeemer, 714 Riverdale Drive, Charleston SC 29407. ROLL, John L., 91, died July 18, 2009. He was born September 30, 1917. John was a WWII Navy Veteran who served in the submarine service aboard USS Catfish (SS-339), and a member of American Legion Post #0371 Gibbsboro, Navy League of the US, & the Naval Submarine League. He worked as a chemist for Sherwin Williams in Gibbsboro, NJ. John was a Past President of Square Circle Sportsman Club and a member of Over the Hill Gang. Husband of Mildred (nee Graham) Roll. Survived by daughter Jacqueline (William) Ruskowski of Medford, NJ, grandchildren William, Brian, and Kyle; and nephew Robert Heller of FL. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday 9:30am-10:30am with funeral services at 10:30am at the ORA L. WOOSTER FUNERAL HOME 51 PARK BLVD. Arthur J. Munroe, 78, of Peach Tree City, Ga., formerly of Salem, MA, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Christian City Rehab and Hospital in Georgia, surrounded by his family. Born in Peabody, MA, living most of his life in Salem, he was the son of the late William H. and Ida M. (Vaillancourt) Munroe. Arthur was raised and educated in Salem and was a member of the graduating class of 1950 from Salem High School. Arthur was an outstanding athlete, who captained the 1949, Salem High School Football Team. For his accomplishments on the gridiron, he was elected to the Salem High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. Arthur continued his education at Louisiana State University. An honorably discharged veteran, Arthur served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean War as a submariner on the USS Corporal (SS-346). Arthur returned from his military duty and served the City of Salem as a fire fighter for over 34 years and the proud owner of B&H Maintenance. A long time active member of the Salem Fire Fighters Union, Arthur was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Vergua Council #76 of Salem and volunteered as a Salem Little League and Pony League Baseball Coach. A dedicated husband and father, Arthur loved his family and was a true admirer of all forms of athletics and events, which included his sons and grandchildren. Arthur was also an avid golfer and enjoyed serving the less fortunate with his Church members at My Brother's Table in Lynn. In addition to his loving wife of fifty seven years, Patricia (Norton) Munroe, Arthur is survived by his sons, Scott A. Munroe (Susan) of Snellville, Ga. and Jeffery J. Munroe (Allison) of Beverly; his grandchildren, Katelyn Munroe of Madeira Beach, Fla., Neal Munroe (Nicole) of Johns Creek, Ga., Jay Munroe of Beverly and Alyssa (Rodrigo) Sousa of Beverly. He was also the brother of the late Marion Fillos and William and Francis Munroe. His funeral will be held from the O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Square, (at Salem Common) Salem, Wednesday, at 9:15 a.m. followed by his funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Salem at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited.
