Subject: First Snorkel

Just had a guy contact me this afternoon asking if I'd like copies of photos of his dads time on the USS R-6 in 1944 & 5. Seems the R-6 was working on and testing the first versions of the snorkel for US boats. Here is a pic of that snorkel mounted to the STBD side of the telescoping radio mast. Photo taken from the back deck of the R-6. The strange looking "hook" must be the diesel exhaust. I have higher Rez copies coming later for the web page.
