Max A. Behr passed from this life to meet his Heavenly Father on August 17, 2009. He was born on January 22, 1935 in Hoisington, Kansas to Vincent and Lilly Behr. He and his brothers grew up on a farm. He attended Hoisington High School and served in the U.S. Navy 4 years during the Korean War. He served on the Destroyer "Frank Knox" and the "USS Banbeno" submarine as the sonar tech after his honorable discharge from the Navy. He got into the food business, knowing a lot of the business from his dad, he was also grocery man. Max retired from the Midwest Brokerage Co. after 20 years of services. Max married Jane Krmela on June 19, 1958 in Olmitz, Kansas. Max was very devoted to his Catholic Faith and church families. His main concern was helping others especially when he and other volunteers started Feed the Homeless downtown once a month, along with other churches that joined in. His greatest buddies were his grandsons to take in the UFC fights and specially Kansas University Basketball games. Max was a member of the Veterans Wars, Knights of Columbus and professional sales organizations. He is survived by his wife, Jane Behr; 1 daughter, Lisa Davis and husband Johnny of Blackwell, OK; 2 grandsons, Jonathan Condit of OKC and Andrew Davis of Blackwell, OK; 2 brothers, Francis Behr and wife Evelyn of Hoisington, KS and Gerald Behr of St. John, KS; many nieces and nephews. Max was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother. Wake will be held 7:00 PM, Friday, August 21, 2009 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Moore, OK. Services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2009 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Moore, OK, with Father Jack Feehily and Deacon Angus Watson officiating. Committal services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.
